Brown leaving ? No surprise to me, good riddance and more importantly we have a bit of cap to play with.
Should we be now proactively seeking a good established player?
Presume Stevens will be too expensive (and not what we need), and perhaps Rawlings will be too expensive too.
Of the other options, Solomon or Lade would make the biggest differnence to us, IMO.

If the dogs wanna play aggressive with the release of Brown, heres an answer:
Dont worry about Draft picks, we already have 2 of the 4 best youngsters at the dogs next year, Cooney and hopefully Bradley not to mention we have pick #19 up our sleeve if necessary
Get Soloman, & get Power!!!
Those four names, will add a real mix, put them beside Smith, Johnson, Darcy, Grant, Murphy Hahn etc, and you'll have a capable side
We already have a young side, they are developing yes, but I don't believe the solution is to get low picks this year, we've had them in the past and they're coming good
So focus on getting Soloman & Power, they are the key, both premiership players, and players within reality of getting
No broken down older players, no temper throwing babies (richo), and no risky players like Hay
Solid young kids who will add something to our style of play is what we need... yep we've lost Brown, & we can use #19.. if the dogs wanna play aggressive, THATS the way to do it!!
Thoughts?

Like the outcome, but how do you propose to get 2 sought after players from 2 clubs which Brown won't be going to?

Out of all the players that may be available I would want Rawlings. Stevens is the best footballer, followed by Power but Rawlings is more along the lines of what we need.
I would also be very interested in Richo, short term he would have more effect then any of the other players mentioned however we probably would be after someone younger

Smorgo says in the Herald Sun:
"I can tell you, we will not be satisfied unless we get quality, proven footballers"
"We are not interested in getting good, average footballers into our club"
We need someone who is around Brown's age.....pls Luke Power or Rawlings.

Power-Would be a good replacement but I wouldnt want to pay that much for him just yet.Not elite just at this stage although he most likely will be.
Stevens-Very good player but like Power plays in an area we are not all that deficient in.I tend to think that running outside midfielders are a dime a dozen and easier to find then talls.
Lade-Getting on a bit and not a genuine gun.Would be a bit of a stop gap player IMO.
Solomon-Would be a handy addition to add to Hahn.Wouldnt go straight up with Brown. They would need to add something else.
Rawlings-Gotta be number 1 target.Pack marking athletic tall who can play either end.

Would this trade work?
Brown + pick 35
for Rawlings + pick 25

I think the answer would be "Essendon"
Essendon have been reported to try and get Browny, Soloman & Jacobs would be a suitable swap in my book
Would love to get Power, 3 way with Essendon isn't out of the question
