Retrospective Season 05 Bullfrog Medal Count
Roys B&F Vote Count for what would later become known as the Broken Medal
Welcome to the 2005 (Season 05) Roys FFC Best & Fairest Count.
This is a retrospective count as no actual awards were given at the time of the end of season. This retrospective count will complete a series of retros, and from the end of this count every season will have had a Best & Fairest count.
Note that in Season 05, the Roys' midfielder "Broken" was crowned the league's best & fairest, the Mobbenfuhrer Medallist, at the Sweet FA Awards Night. Therefore he is likely to be one of the front pack in the hunt for this esteemed trophy, as well. But, as we know, league B&F's are often won by players who don't win their club awards. So its still an open tablet.
Season 05 consisted of 12 teams, therefore the league was able to play a 22-round "twice-each" fixture. So there are 22 matches to work through. We didn't have a great year, losing more than we won, and missing the finals, a disappointment after being premiers the season before.

Congratulations PaulD on a great season back in 2005! To sneak home just front of the eventual Mobbenfuhrer Medallist is a worthy accolade indeed.
Congratulations also to runner-up Broken, who of course won't be too distressed, having won the league's Best & Fairest.
Congratulations to third-place-getter Bobby Beecroft, a steller season in '05 as a "do-anything" utility.
Congratulations to FattyLumpkin who came in fourth, and is the highest placed of team members still playing today.
Congratulations to gregtri for a great season, worthy of his 5th place ribbon.

Its been three years since Broken has been on the site, so there won't be any likely speech from the runner-up. However PaulD, our Bulldog & Broken medallist for Season 05, is still hanging around, so I'll advise him of this win by PM and invite him to say a few words :)
Fatty is a current player, Bobby has faded away but is still a regular on the boards, so he'll also get a heads-up. gregtri, a bloke I used to chat with at Reds matches 10 years ago, disappeared about the time of the season in question. He got one less vote than he's had posts on Bigfooty :D
Congratulations PaulD, a worthy winner of a worthy award. I'd love to have the Roys B&F on my mantle piece, this has inspired me to strap on the boots again after a long hiatus. :D
(Also, I don't follow the Gold Coast, the stupid thing wouldn't let me log in again without selecting an AFL team!)

Ahh I see, well it really is great to see you back! So much has happened, eg Fitzroy now officially with its own team in the VAFA now.

Obviously truly honoured to win this award. Remember the '05 season well. A tough year after winning the flag in the previous year. Best summed up as a transition year for the Roys.
Always a few people to thank on occasions like these. First and foremost my teammates. Without them I wouldn't be standing here to accept this award.
The coaching staff - thanks for having the faith in me to take me out of my comfort zone and play me in a position I wasn't overly familiar with. Also the support given along the way was invaluable.
The Board and Selection commitee - I think the Roys have the best board amongst all the SFA clubs. Cutting edge, ahead of their time and always willing to come down for a beer on a Thursday night after training and have a chat.
Finally the wife - thanks for being there (photo below) and allowing me to go away with the boys on the footy trip. (Broken, stay away from the Mrs. I've warned you once, don't make me come over there)
