Smorgo said on TV that it will be the match commitee that makes sure we will get the best deal for brown.

Can anyone tell me who those people are

Lets hope they dont muck it up.

Also Alan Richardson

Don't under estimate them Robert Walls when he sat in the box said they worked very well
We had a bad year sure but we were injured and under developed.
Remember Brisbane won the 1998 wooden spoon and Collingwood the 1999 spoon

Garry Hocking has been interviewed for the vacant asst coaching job.

If he gets the gig that would give us

1 inexpereinced coach
1 mildly experienced asst coach (Bond)
2 inexperienced asst coaches (Hocking and Richardson)
1 inexperienced and suspect coach at Werribee

No premiership experience or know how!

Alan Richardson who heads the match committee comes from an old bygone era.

Not the ideal set up is it?

I reckon if Hocking is to come in thats fine but then 1 or 2 others must go. They should be replaced by people with the appropriate experience and ability that players will look up to and respect.

Please apply, Harvey, Longmire, McGuane, Blakey, Shaw et al.

I agree and forget about what Robert walls thinks.Robert Walls makes a number of pathetic comments about football, so that his endorsement is not worth a cracker. I f I remember correctly I believe he picked Melbourne to beat Essendon in the 2000 Grand Final, just on the off - chance that an amazing fluke would occur and he would get the credit for being a genius.
He is bitter and sanctimonious and generally a very "ordinary" judge.
His reaction to the Libba - Knights episode was way over the top and during his football commentaries he is always looking for oppurtunities to get players cited to go to the tribunal.

That match committee is a shambles

But what do you expect when there is not one of ounce of football experience on our board

surely we could get Kelvin Templeton or Simon Beasley or another ex player who has half a brain to sit on the board and tell them what we need to make the team and club tick.

You could throw Peter Foster and Steve Wallis into the mix. It would be more than handy to have them both involved.

Wallis seems a sensible fellow.

What happened to Rick Kennedy? He was out match committee chief in 92 I think and involved in the board change in 96. He might be a good man to have back at the club.

I'd be happy with Rick Kennedy back at the Club, but I believe his work commitments are very heavy.

Kennedy had a falling out with the club over the non-selection of Michael Frost. He was a huge Frost fan and basically put his head on the block and said 'play Frost or I am out of here'. Frost went to StKilda at seasons and and Kennedy quit the club in disgust.

Steve Wallis is a quality person and would be a superb addition to the match comitee or the board.

I would love to see Simon Beasley on the board. He has the business acumen and footy paddock experience to be a real asset to the club. Also, I never got to thank him for that goal against Collingwood at the scoreboard end of the ground in 1985! Of course, that goal started my history with heart problems.:D

A caller rang 3aw tonight about our match committee and how inexperienced it was and how they could mess up the draft and the Browny trade

They then talked to dougie he went through the match committee names then "Deep Breath" and then said that geez that is a little on the inexperience side isn’t it

The no football experience on the board was discussed as well

Dougie believes that his larrikin foolish persona does not put him in good stead as a an assistant coach as people believe he is a fool, he also discussed Royal and said the club should do all it can to get him back at the club

They tried to contact Smorgo but he was unavailable

Isn't there a bloke called Clayton around the club who could help here?

Or does his judgement only apply to youngsters?

Beasleys earning a fortune as a bookie, doubt he'd have the time to work with us

Yeah I couldn't agree more with that although he did get Werribee playing some good footy late in the season.

He needs to start giving younger Bulldog listed players more ground time though, and stop writing s**t match player comments on the Bulldogs website. It is hard for players to have an impact on a game when they are on the bench for three quarters of it.

According to the HeraldSun, Leon Cameron's in the mix.

LEON Cameron is in the mix to return to the Western Bulldogs as an assistant coach.

Cameron impressed in an interview last week and is believed to be vying strongly with former Geelong champion Garry Hocking for the role.

The Dogs will boost their support panel by one this season and are expected to make an announcement soon.

Gnome,

Your concerns about the inexperience of the Match Committee are fair enough, and I'd love to see that Swans guy or O'Donnell or Royal etc with us, but I suspect that the laws of human nature will dictate that an inexperienced coach coming off a poor initial season would not want likely and capable successiors around.

I think that is way too harsh to say that Rohde would not want the best person available to be an assistant coach. As if it is up to him anyway. He may have a big say in it but others would have to agree for someone to be appointed in such an important role.

Since the fall out with Terry Wheeler (the specifics of which i never knew before), Kennedy has been back at the club (was a part of the Smorgon taskforce), but either never joined the new board or stepped down relatively quickly due to not having enough time to devote to it.
