Read somewhere here they were over-rated. Suggest the 2003 GF as mandatory viewing. As big a smashing as I've seen.

SHeeds on talking footy last friday spoke about how it's the most pivotal position on the ground...and little wonder. Keating smashed Fraser to smithereens...

Really like Hille. But like Fraser, he just isn't up to it against the best on a consistent basis, yet.

We NEED another good ruckman to give our midfielders a decent chance.

Just going on media rumors...

Allan is too weak to go up against a physical, powerful jump'n'punch ruckman like Keating. Dare I say it, I'd rather take McKernan...

Don't necessarily need a great ruckman, but a good one would be nice, preferably two.

Hille is terrific but he needs to be complimented. He's got to have someone who can spell him, come on if he's having a bad night and try and turn the game, or just simply give him release into the forward line where he can do some damage.

A few keep saying "ruckmen are overrated"; maybe they are, but you can't just get by with nothing.

Throwing Henneman to the wolves isn't going to cut it.

I feel bad for henneman.. putting him in the ruck this year made him look really ordinary.. especially when he would get fustrated... Mckernan would be a huge risk BUT if it payed off could be just wat we need...

The 2000GF was also good viewing for ruck purposes. Barnes knew he couldn't match White in the air at the center bounces so he just concentrated on taking out White's arm so he couldn't get an effective tap. Worked well, and he also hyperextended White's arm which gave him further trouble.

Capuano anyone? He would be pretty cheap, and he would be there in an on-field ruck support role, without hindering Hille's or O'keefe's development. ( I am assuming that we couldn't afford McKernon )

Also, good to see Simon Madden back at Essendon. He has helped Hille's game along this year.

I would like it if essendon could get an experienced ruckman out of trade week. But white and mckernan would be the only good ruckmen to go after

What would you give for Jeff White?

Not much. Don't rate him. Soft, injury prone.

surprised whites name has been thrown up. is still relatively young, and a couple of seasons ago was one of the elite ruckmen in the comp. do we need another athletic type or a crash and bash type??? bit of both would be nice, so maybe mckernan??? would love richo to play there though!!!

Didnt hille give charmen and Keating a bath when we played brisbane at the dome. I think you will find he did...also kicked a couple of goals and launched himself into several marking contests. One he took mark of the week with. The other he smashed and hurt micheal. The ball spilled and Lloydy kicked a goal. Give the kid a chance after another pre-season under Madden and with the continued devolopment of Laycock and o'keefe(who hasnt had a pre-season at windy hill due to injury) we will be ok next year

I dont like those thighs of Jeff White. I get this bad feeling that if we draw him down to Bomberland, he faces the risk of being a dud-trade, by having an injury or something of the like.

Our rucks will be okay.

Hille is going to get better and better and we have O'Keefe and Laycock waiting in the wings.

Johns and Henneman can play there as well if we get desperate. As can Fletcher or Lucas.
We have plenty of talls.

All this talk of going after White is ludicrous. He will come on a huge salary and will put O'Keefe and Laycock further behind in their development. Allan is passed it and quite frankly no others come to mind that would be worth it.

I'm sure the recruiting staff will be going after speed in the midfield and possibly a half forward flanker.
D Motlop would be perfect.
