View Full Version : Joel Reynolds
I think we should trade/delist this kid. We only ever drafted him because of his name. Too scrawny for AFL and will never make it. What are your opinions?

Disagree. Has great speed and a terrific football brain.
But he does get a little better run for the name. There were times I felt on form that someone else may have deserved their spot in the 22 over him. Does need bulk.
Crazy to delist him. There are some who have been around longer and have shown less.

Well i don't want to sound offbeat here or anything. But Joel Reynolds contributed as much as Dustin Fletcher did in the club's last game, both scrawny as turkeys avoiding christmas dinner, and both "name" players.
Similarities abound..
Don't see us getting rid of Fletcher tho.... least not whilst Sheeds is in charge!!! :p
I agree that Reynolds has what we need.. speed in midfield.
As for him keeping his spot when form was down.. Sheeds has his methods and madness (maybe he was seeing just how he coped with a 'form slump')

He has the talent, we just need to give him some time. It's not easy for kids to put on 15kg when they have to run thousands of km each year.

Sheeds said on talking footy a few weeks back that if we had have had a full healthy list for much of the year he wanted the centreline by round 22 to be Reynolds, Ramanauskas and Winderlich. Now that might just be Sheeds trying to be a little bit different but he obviously hold Reynolds in high esteem. As has been said a million times when he gets some bulk he will be a very handy player.

Might be true in the media, but I dont think Sheedy would treat the kid any different.

agree with what stealth has said. My only criticism of Joel is that he doesn't find the footy enough. However hopefully that will come as he gains experience. He usually uses it well once he gets it.

Rubbish
The guy will be silk. Dont forget he is only 18 and was carrying a groin injury all season.
Just you wait - he will be great

He's shown enough. He'll prove you wrong in the next couple years.

The guy has a touch of class, just needs to bulk up and get a few seasons in him.

If his surname wasnt Reynolds would never have been drafted. Was an average player for the Geelong Falcons and hardly got a run for Vic Country. If Byron Pickett gave him a slight bump the kid would snap in half
Well, Well, Well look who was right

Sheeds talking rubbish again. Why did he have Rama in the BP every game? If you want someone to play in the centreline then you put them in the centreline. You don't shove them way down in the back pocket to get outclassed by players who are faster and stronger.
Will be interesting to see when Winderlich gets brought in for some senior games.
Joel Reynolds......The kid has been playing well in BGO off the HBF. Leave him on the HBF if that is where he has been playing well, not like Saturday night. Also, the kid isn't that fast on his feet. A few posts in here saying that he has got great leg speed. Rubbish. I have seen 2 of the 4 Bendigo games this year, he was marking well, his kicking was a bit iffy, some shocking turnovers and missing targets by a mile. He only laid one tackle against the Lions, doesn't sound like a fast runner to me.
89 minutes of football. 1 kick, 2 handballs, 1 mark, 1 tackle. lot's of room for improvement.

Mate, you might just want to check when the post you quoted was made. I thought the fact that Talking Footy is no longer on the air might have given it away.

Oh and for what it's worth, Joel is the fastest over 100m at the club.
Quicker than Lovett.
