Pity - he has been a great servant for the club.
Best wishes Jade.
Now we move on...........

Best wishes?
I hope he gets dragged when we play against him.
Great servant?
1 and half good years after 9 years of hard slog the Hawthorn coaches put into him. Don't forget, in wasn't until 2000 he actually played regularly and he was average in 2002.
I'm happy for him to leave, as I don't beleave he does anything half a dozen other existing Hawthorn players couldn't provide. Just as long as we don't give him away for nothing.

I guess it's all personal opinion, but something is amiss with all
this - sign the 2 year contract, and he becomes a life-member...why
give that up too??
Hawthorn obviously haven't worked too hard on this for one reason
or another...the next week or so could be VERY interesting.

Doesn't look like we went to any effort to assist Jade with his requirement, except ask half the team to take a pay cut.
I agree there is some reason we stuck to our guns on 2 years, but Rawlings has to be kidding if he thinks Geelong or Melbourne are better finals aspiarnts than Hawthorn. Surely his motives for leaving are not as he has stated.

I'd stand to be corrected here (read: can't be bothered looking it up!!),
but wasn't the club (Schwabby?) quoted as asking SOME players to
take a cut, or re-negotiate their contracts in order to accomodate
Lekkas, Rawlings OR another player????? There was definitely inference
that we were going after a 'name' player - let's give this time to evolve
completely - I'm sure there is more to this......
