According to radio down here, these 2 are rumoured to have accepted 2 year deals with 1 year of playing and another of coaching at GWS next season.
So does that mean they can't sign any more of our players?

Chad Cornes has signed. Just mentioned on Channel 7 nes.

Yup, they're both yours.
Enjoy them GWS - they're fantastic players and I think they've both got another good year left in 'em. They'll help your team significantly next year, not just on field, but off field.

Yep,
Hope they do well for you guys.
Surprised to be honest, and very interested to see what it means for Port's compensation.
Though they have both retired, they are both on our list - one will be an uncontracted player and the other will need to be some form of trade I assume.
If true it's a bit of a headscratcher how GWS is going to manage this. Makes me wonder whether they've found a loophole in some form, or if it really is multiple uncontracted players from the same club. That'd limit the number of players that can be recruited next year if true.

Port could have let them sign the extra player Brisbane/Brennan style. Cornes/Brogan are retiring anyway. They would get an extra pick for zip
I can understand signing Chad, but Brogan is weird, doesn't look like his body will last another season, ruck coach?

Port delist them and then GWS sign them as players who have previously been on an AFL team list? Like how GC signed and traded Krakouer

That's the most likely scenario, but we can only take 16 players over the two years. If we take these two, Luke Power and (who knows?) a few other "oldies" that number could be pretty small for recruiting next year.

I think that only applies to people who were not on an AFL list in the current year, precisely to avoid this kind of loophole.

I'd say that being ruck coach would be the primary reason for locking him down. If he plays it is a plus
Good pickup
I think in hindsight GC would of loved to have grabbed a couple of 30-32 year olds
Brogan might do what Fraser has done for our own Zac Smith and other young rucks.
He has played most games and been alright-ish, but where Josh Fraser has been really good was with off-field stuff. He's the one largely responsible for making Zac Smith as good as he is, spending lots and lots of time with him personally in the off-season. Grooming him, pretty much. Fraser's knowledge of the game into Zac Smith's body. It's largely attributed to why Smith is able to compete with some of the better rucks in the competition. Taking nothing away from Smith's own sheer talent, of course.
Could be something similar.

On December 6 GWS lodge the 10 previously listed AFL player that they are picking up, and this is how they will pick up Cornes and Brogan and this means port will get nothing for them. It will be interesting to see if there are any other players who announce there retirements and clearly have more years in them, and could very much be picked up this way.
nah we're trading them for 2 of their 4 17 year old mini draft picks :D

Looks like you might be right.
Cornes played 239 games for the Power before failing out of favour with former teammate and Port coach Matthew Primus this season, while Brogan played 174 games but was limited by injury in 2011.
The Giants can take up to 10 players who have previously been on an AFL list as part of their list establishment rules.

That's a real surprise to me... That'd be a huge loophole if one of the expansion teams had decided to abuse it. Player X signs as an uncontracted player, player Y "decides to retire" then comes out of retirement and signs with GWS.

Who knows given how much footy Leigh Brown still has to offer he could head to us this way as well.
didnt mal michael do something similar when he played for essendon the season after "retiring' from brisbane??

Yeah.
The difference there is that he still had to go through the PSD. GWS rules are different so we can only guess what the restrictions are or aren't.
