Heres what Nathan Brown told Angelo Lekkas when they were playing gold:
We've told them we're not interested because everything's right with the club," Khouri said. "But it just changes and that's really disappointing. I played golf with Nathan Brown not long ago and Carlton were offering in excess of $550,000 (a season).
The link is here for people that dont believe me http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,7433557%255E20322,00.html
And as for Stevens, With 2.2mil over 4 years, captaincy in 2005, pick 2 4 stevens and guerra. Well Collingwood wont be able to offer as much cash, Port would pick the PP over was collingwood as to offer anyday, and therefore we will see the blue bagger come into top flight with these signings hopefully! And if you ask who would Carlton give for Brown, theres Whitnall.
If Collingwood get the two first round draft picks Port have asked for, then Carlton have no show at all.
Umm, it was lekkas' manager that "said" that...

Stevens still unlikely as the order for him goes:pies, bombers, demons, Blues..
May end up with Brown though, but still unlikely, he could be a pie I think, followed by hawks, tigers...

How can the pies end up with brown? they will have to offer more than 550,000 a season, and over more than 2.2 mil over 4 years for Stevens! What happened to Collingwoods salary cap presure.

How ironic that the amount you would pay these two is slightly (only just) more than what you were fined for breaching the cap in the first place.
Add two players at over 1.1 million per anum plus Kouta's truckload 'o cash and thats got to add up to good list management fodder for the rest of the team.
Leading the way once more....

Kouta is now on the Veterans list which spairs up 500,000 Mckernan is going theres another 300,000 plus the retirements of Ratten, Martyn, Hickmont, possibly Manton and Mckay and a departure of Allan theres the money that Carlton can spend!
Kouta
All you have to offer is cash, you cannot realistically offer finals for 2 years. When it comes to the trade, what can you offer? Not much.
Brown maybe but Stephens wants the Pies and Port risk getting nothing if he plays hard ball.

Well, Stevens actually wants to play for Collingwood. He wouldn't need a 2.2 million `Please Come To Our **** Club' sort of wage.

Fox Footy Channel news said that Collingwood and Richmond were the front-runners for Brown.

there Could be a straight swap like:
Camporeale and pick 38 4 Stevens
Whitnall straight swap for Brown
What and you would be ahead would you? So you swap Camperaole for the same type of player, yes you get more years from Nick but that is it.
Whitnall, for Brown, a 6ft 4 CHF who used to be able to play for a 5ft 10 forward pocket. Good deal is you ask me. Also remember no McKernan, who will be your tall forwards?

Port arn't stupid.
Carlton will only pick one of them up if the player decides to screw his club and go into the pre-season draft. Of them all Stephens is the most likely as if Port refuse to give him what he wants (and boy does he wanna come home!), then he may say **** you!
I hope not, after the N Davis deal last year I hope a good trade for both sides can be worked out. Lets face it in a few years it may be a Didak wanting to come 'home' and then the boot will be on the other foot.
Carlton will end up with some average to good players who come for money and opportunity.

Fevola is the only true tall forward there.
Fisher had potential and will be a good player eventually, but do you seriously think take on any clubs second key defender? He only managed to get his hands on the footy when he was mismatched on a medium defender. But now that opposition clubs realise he can play, they won't show him as much disrespect.
As for Angwin, he may be 200cm but he can only be out on the paddock when he's not locked up or breaking into him mates' houses. Another great recruit from Shane O'Sullivan.

Did that have anything to do with Carlton tall forwards?
And, as for Fisher you cant say that "Now since clubs know he can play he wont perform as good" thats just stupid, so when Llyod started you would have said the same thing, correct!

its alright, eddies probably sweet talked his way into gettin higher cap somehow.
i'm sick of all this whitnall trading crap. whitnall has been looked at to be the next captain of the club, and is was judged along with kouta as the only certainties to be there next year.
look kouta_43, as much as i'd like to believe a lot of the stuff u say, i really think u talk a lot of ****!
Same here Pozzo. ;)
Whitnall isn't up for trade
The PP isn't going to be traded either!

was that lekkas' manager who said that?
think about what sort of player lekkas is - a goalkicking midfielder/forward who is out of contract and brown is exactly the same sort of player....

The only way Carlton will pick up Brown and/or Stevens is through the pre-season draft and I can't see that happening. (can only hope we can)
We would be crazy to give up #2 for a player that would have limited support in the midfield ( ie Healand has attracted the better taggers each week without the fab-four around)
I would rather Carlton offer Luke Power 2.2 million, he is more of a complete midfielder than them (HB, OB or HF)
And as for Whitnall, keep him unless we could attract the likes of Spriggs and Bartel or any other inside midfielder, that would play every game in 2004, rather than giving up Whitnall for Brown (who is an outside small forward that can't win the football for himself)
The difference between Headland and Stevens is that Stevens already gets the #1 tagger every week because he's the #1 midfielder.
You're right about having less support at Carlton though.
Feel free to throw money at Luke Power - I don't reckon it would be as well spent, but Port'd get a better deal.

Spot on Porthos, but Stevens is surrounded by other quality On-Ballers, at Carlton he would certainly get double-teamed at stoppages.
Adrenaline we can get Stevens without trading the PP. No matter what, the PP isnt being traded.
Campo + Sporn for Stevens....it aint enough compensation for Port, but they will have to agree to something cos he wants to come to Melbourne....Port WONT want him going to Collingwood...why would they help out a team who they will be competing against for the flag...
Of course, we can trade him to Collingwood or Essendon or Melbourne if we like.
Simply, Carlton will not get Stevens without giving up the #2, or somehow scamming picks off of other clubs for us.

Yes, Port should get the best deal they can from Melbourne Doggies or Carlton, none of which will hurt Port in the next couple of years.
Doggies dont have the room in the cap.;)

But only if he agrees to the trades.
Is is probable that those clubs won't match the Carlton offer so you'll need to convince him to go somewhere that will see him out of pocket to the tune of $500-600k over 4 years.
If he decides that he likes the Carlton offer, and that becomes his first choice, then Port can huff and puff to their hearts content ... but stand to get nothing.
About the only way Port will get something is if he doesn't go to Carlton.
Everyone knows that you have to 'sell' that makes it a buyers market.

geez people, it goes like this:
#2 and Guerra to Dogs
#1 to Port
Stevens to Carlton
or,
stevens straight to dogs for #1 pick (cooney) to port.
cooney & ebert & salopek in full flight......

er, hasnt camporeale already re-signed a new deal with the blues?

Weaver,
Porthos doesn't seem to want to believe this scenario. I think he is standing around with his fingers in his ears yelling.....
"Can't hear you, can't hear you".
:D
If anyone isn't paying attention, its Blues fans. Carlton would be his last of available choices, because a) they're not finals contenders and b) he would prefer Collingwood but is willing to work with Port on his destination club, and has done nothing to indicate otherwise. Try that on for size.

Of course, if you are willing to screw your old club by going in the pre-season draft it's easier to live with the flak when you are changing states. ;)
