With all the disappointing news surrounding the loss of Jade Rawlings and the potential loss of Ang Lekkas, what can be the positives we as a club can take out of it?
While losing Lekkas would be a big loss, I think potentially we could cover his loss with the signing of possibly a Nathan Brown, as he would add more dimension to our forward structure and Midfield. A lot of people on these threads have been calling him everything from a Money hungry prat to a Mercenary, but the plain and simple fact is that we have lost Jade and we need to compensate for that and by bringing in a Brown would more that adequetally do.
With Thommo, Spider, & Barker fit again this would be a pretty potent forward set up along with Brown, or play Barker at CHB and free Joel Smith up to get even more run from HB, Throw in Campbell Brown and a super fit Luke Hodge to the midfield/Forward structure I really think it can work. There is also talk about Soloman; he would suit nice across HB as well.
I am interested to hear fellow supporter’s thoughts as out of something bad something much better can arise.
As I said I am looking for positives as we all know the negatives and am not interested in hearing anymore negativity about losing them. Time to look forward not to dwell on the past…
Cheers….
We DEFINITELY don't want to lose Lekkas.
If a 'deal' can be done to keep Lekkas, pay back the players,
and grab Brown through off-loading some players (anyone who saw
Harford walk off the ground in the last game against Richmond would
probably realise it was his last for the club), then something may have
been salvaged from this apparent mess - long shot it is, I know.
A couple (even one??) of KPP's would be handy too!

BRING ON SOLOMON!
Lekkas is a must at Hawthorn, has been our most consistent player of the past 5 years. Even been more consistent than Crawford.
i know this is might sound like a crap idea, but what about a trade for Daniel Harford for Ben Holland???
I know Ben Holland might be a bit of a risk but he had a great 2001 like many of Hawthorn's current players. I know that Holland hasnt produced the same form as 2001 but neither has some of the hawks players like Harford. It could be ok, he could take a CHB role at the club and he might lift due to playing with his brother.
Also, on the news the other night i heard about Wirrpunda to Glenferrie. Due to Rawlings leaving, we should obtain a first round selection, either pick 5 or 7. That would men that we would have two picks in the first round. I know Chance Bateman is a gun but i also know that he wouldn't mind gouin back to WA. So how about if we trade pick 11 and Chance Bateman to the Eagles and in return we get David Wirrpunda.
Any thoughts??

I'd rather keep Bateman than trade him for Wirra.
Where have you heard that Bateman wants to go back to WA? All year he's been saying that he wants to be the first Aboriginal to play 50+ games for the Hawks.
He's been through some very tough personal issues over the last year yet I've never heard anything to suggest he wants to go back.

Bateman is becoming the player the recuriters saw in him, i think he gives us some good toughness in the back half, wirrapunda is a fantastic player but i personally wouldnt like to lose bateman to get him.
Ben Holland is an interesting one i must say, he really could be anything but what i have read he is pretty highly paid and i don't know if we could cope with two hollands in the side
but worth a go if we didnt lose too much to get him.
I think we would be better chasing Soloman instead of a Ben Holland..
Your right Lekkas has been really consistant and as much as i wouldnt like to lose him, i dont see it as the be all and end all if the right recruiting is done to fill his shoes, But i believe he is very liked around the club and it might cause some bad waves, but just thinking why a lot of other players have to consider so much to resign yet Crawf seems to be able to see the light so to speak...
dont get me wrong, i am saying what i think is the case. I just think that he wouldn't mind goin to WA. However i have also heard that the wanted to be the first aboriginal player to play 50 games for the hawks.
I just thought of it then on the spot, because i would love to see Wirrpunda at the hawks. He would solve those really bad kick-ins from behinds. They were terrible!
Always liked the idea of Wirrapunda at the Hawks but I'm not sure he is anything more than what we already have. His ability, is to run with ball and rebound from def 50, something Joel Smith and Bateman did pretty well for most of the year! I think the Hawks have other positions on the ground that are of more concern.
I like the Ben Holland possibility , probably wouldn't have to give too much away to get him , but unfortunatlely he comes with a pretty hefty contract and he's a fair bit slower than his brother!
Is Brett Johnson a possibility to return to Perth?
We do have a lot of similar light framed midfielders , maybe the Eagles would be interested.
