If he agrees to a pay cut, I wouldn't mind him.

He is a poor man's Stephen Powell.

How on earth could Melbourne afford Jade, let alone Harford's massive contract?

Just 12 months ago they felt the need to offload Woewodin's contract, yet suddenly can afford two guys on $300K+.

Yet more salary cap cheating?

Change Harford to Lekkas now, and we have a deal! ;)

I was thinking the same thing.

Maybe Jeff White won't be at Melbourne next year?

Well we lost that contract, and then we lost Powells, which we didnt' want to do.

Add the retirements of Ellis and Leoncelli, plus Neitz going on the vet's list, and we have plenty of room.

You're losing your best KPP.

And you'll probably use that pick on a 2003 version of Luke Brennan. :p

There is no way Rawlings is better than Thompson or Hay. Just because he took your under sized defence apart on one day you think he is it and a bit.

As for Luke Brennan, I think he played less than a dozen games through injury. A bit early to can a kid I think.

:D

Hay is a shocker mate, seriously

Thompson plays maybe 3 good games a year

i know he has walked out on you, but doesnt mean he cant play all of a sudden. Rawlings is easily your best KPP. Or was anyway

So in other word you wouldn't mind him so you made up some trade and put "my mail says" in front of it.

You stick to watching and commenting on your side and I'll do the same for mine. I have never rated him our best best KPP.

Thompson kicked more goals than him even playing less games and I don't recall Rawlings ever being named All Australian. Let me ask you this, would you ever contemplate playign Rawlings on Neitz, nuff said.

Yes please. It's funny but taking Harford would be a sweetener from Melbourne, not Hawthorn to seal the deal. We're desperate to get rid of him.

Nope, wrong as always Yze. Hay is our most valueable KPP by a mile. Look back at threads prior to this Rawlings saga and you will see similar sentiments from Hawks supporters. He can play (and beat) the best forwards in the comp.

Rawlings is a quality player, and it's a shame to see him go. As far as Thompson v Rawlings goes, i'd agree that Jade is much more consistent. BUT, Jade played the entire year up forward, whereas Thommo only played 14 games, and Thompson kicked still more goals. Thommo is the better player (potentially) but Rawlings is the more consistent.

Only bitter hawk supporters are claiming Rawlings can't play. We all know he can. WHoever gets him are getting a versatile KPP, but he's being overvalued in this years trade deals, due to the lack of similar types.

If this goes through Hawthorn would have to be paying a big big chunk of Harfords salary.

Personally I'd rathre us bring Paul Hopgood out of retirement than have this salary cap eating pretender running around.

If you exchanged Harford for Steven Greene I would seriously think about.

It won't happen though. He's going to Geelong. It's signed, sealed and almost delivered.

Exactly. This deal may well be gossip but deals like this will become more common.

Rawlings is probably worth a first and second round pick. Hawthorn could well go back and say instead of the 2nd round pick YOU have to take Harford and pay 90% of his contract. In essence pricing / selling the pick for $300k or so.

Moving Harford is going to be priority 1 for Hawthorn. It may be the only way they can keep Lekkas happy, and still try to pick up an unconracted player.

Exactly lets just wait until Jade makes the announcement. As for the Harford bit, it is nothing more than pure made up rumour at this stage. I mean please "my mail suggests". Where does a school kid on holidays get his mail form I ask?

Yep, I received a letter in the mail from Jade himself saying that he has chosen Melbourne.

Quite seriously, Harford can still play. He is on way to much money for what he is, but he can still play and he would be a regular player for the Dees. He is slow but he is creative and can go get the ball. He would have played more games this year only that Sam Mitchell took his place. I do remember seeing him play a game this season, it may have been against Carlton and he did well. If the hawks were paying a bit of his contract, he'd be worth it. He comes out of contract at the end of next season so it shouldn't bother the Dees to much.

The only advantage Rawlings would gain by playing for Gellong would be that the hooped guernsey would make him look bigger than he actually is.

Still get the impression he'll be at North next year.

I hope he is at North, he always said he wants to play along side his brother, this is his best chance to do so, why would he want to go anywhere else.

Yea, I believe the term for said party is known as 'a wake'.

They might be partying in the admin at Linda ct but I kinda doubt that the players are going to be getting along and joining in.

Oh and to others, Rawlings was the third best KPP we had. Thompson and Hay are both more talented. Rawlings has been more consistent. Structually to the side, Hollands still the most important but I'm really concerned over his long-term fitness. Barker (imo) is more flanker than kp too. Even if his height suggests otherwise.

Whoever gets him (Rawlings) though no bitterness over his talent here. You will be getting a very good versatile KP player who will always give his best when he plays. Not absolute top shelf in the AFL talent wise but more than capable of consistent good perfomances week in, week out. Wish we still could have kept him.

Grendel, you abviously know your stuff and get inside info from somewhere, but wouldn't you agree that Thommo showed enough in the second half of the year to play CHF. It looked to me that he was playing that role more than Rawlings and Dutchy was playing off the bench. I know Dutchy was underdone and he had a blinder at CHF against Collingwood, but just get the feeling he may be of better service at FF. Therefore Thommo becomes more important to us structurally. Actually Everitt becomes more important, because if he plays, then Thommo can stay in the forward line.
