Just wanted to get your feelings on the Rawlings scenario.

Should he choose Geelong, how will you feel?

I ask because i have been thinking this over, and despite my massive desire to have Jade in the hoops, i wouldn't be shattered if he chose Melbourne.

It would mean that we get to keep our first pick and also allow McCarthy to develop further.

So, how would you feel if you missed out on him?

I would feel exactly the way you do mate.

I think Rawlings would be fantastic for Melbourne BUT... if we can't land him, we still have the opportunity to go after other players, and still with our first 2 picks.

There is talk we are interested in a variety of players, and some who I believe would be just as good and much cheaper, and if Rawlings were to come to our *cough* lovely *cough* city then I wouldn't mind too much.

Not long till we find out though!

Yep, what he said.

If we do get Rawlings then I will be very happy (we play the Hawks in Rd 1!), but if he goes to Geelong... it means:

a) We can get a younger, and probably cheaper Trent Croad.
b) We can keep our early draft pick.

Win-Win!

Gee Melbourne or Geelong ?
Range Rovers or Handbags ?
Couldn't think of two mediocre clubs to go to.

This week.

Used to be a Geelong supporter did our Karl. He's a bandwagoner who can't even get that right.

The biggest worry for Melbourne fans would be what the club does if they miss out on Rawlings. The name Croad has been mentioned, and no supporter would want that gimp in their side.

For the record, I think the dees will get Jade, as they have more to offer us. Pick #5 is better than Pick #7.

Let's not forget his brief flirtation with StKilda.

Karl seems to be a curse on every team he follows.

We just need to convince him to barrack for Collingwood and all will be fine.

I think Eddie McGuire's doing a fine job of cursing them at the moment. :D

He was also a very keen and passionate Leeds fan.............until, of course, their prospects went down hill a couple of years ago.

You're both silly to be offering your first round picks for him IMO.

Would prefere Jade to go to Geelong.

Trent Croad is the one to go after in my books. Need a CHB more than a key forward.

As a Melbourne supporter i got to agree with you, we do have priority pick in reserve but i just dont think he is worth it. I dont doubt his talent just i would rather take a chance on getting a really good youngster who could contribute for a long time. Its not like Rawlings is the missing link to our premiership hopes anyway.

So go the pick instead i say, for the 5th pick i would be tempted to go Nick Stevens, thats it.

Rawlings is much better as a CHB than he is as a forward and Croad will never be a backman.

I dont mind if we end up with either. Croad would be cheaper and could be anything or nothing. Rawlings would be safer, but pick 5 for a middle aged player who is far from a superstar is paying too much.

That is stupidity. Jade Rawlings' best position remains CHB, despite his good season up forward this year. Croad has never been a CHB. Spent some time on the HBF early his career, but was shifted forward because he lacked accountability/discipline. Rawlings is the better forward, the better defender, the better footballer.

Oh, and he' a disloyal, greedy prick too...
