Croad A Possibility To Return

Saw Dermie with Croad last weekend at the waterfront restaurant in crown. Overheard Dermie convincing Croad to chat to Schwab about coming back home to glenferrie, was practically seated next to them.

I'm sure I heard correctly, hopefully he can fill that void at CHB now with rawlings departing and Brown likely to sign a four year deal with the Tigers.

PS Was quoted that Brown doesnt want to intrude on internal affairs at Hawthorn and therefore does not prefer to go there. See Today's Herald Sun

This has been something I've been thinking most of the year.
Many supporters will think he is 'bad news', and the way he left will
not enable him to come back. Unfortunately, this is a business now,
not a sport. If not him, we need a player like him.
Would not surprise me in the slightest. Possibly Johnson (and a draft
pick) IF it happens, and if it did, his pay-packet would have to drop dramatically.

I expect Grendel and JJ to have a crack at me now.....

I'd have him back if he took a big pay cut and if he really wanted to come back and made the approach to HFC. And if we could get someone like Langers to teach him how to punch the ball.

Just don't see it happening though.

Croady can agree to say a two year deal @ $110k per year and we can do a direct swap for Brett Johnson.

Problems:

* Croad has to want to come back
* Croad has to make up with the HFC players he upset in the past
* Croad has to agree to a huge paycut
* Freo has to agree to cut their loses and admit we rolled them
* Melbourne are a stupid club, they'll offer more to him and Freo

Why? I've never been one (neither has JJ to my recollection) to say 'Croad could never play ever' type's. I think he's a pretty good CHB/3rd tall defender who's no world beater but pretty handy in that role.

What I don't believe is that he will ever be back with us though, ever.

Reason's are to numerous, coach didn't rate him, team-mates (supposedly) didn't get along (not sure just how much truth is in that one) with him, his own (rightfully so to imo) resentment at how he was forced out. What it'd cost to get him back, not just salary but trading to get him.

No can't see it. Don't want to say anything to much about BJ only that I have reason (nothing confirmed) that he wont be at the Hawks next season.. and that he wont be going back to W.A either, so that discounts the Croad/BJ and 2nd rounder scenario.

I'm sure many Hawks would love to have Trent back, just as many probably hopeful that it never happens and a few like me (and JJ) that wouldnt mind his return at a reasonable cost.

Still don't see it happening though. Not this season anyway.

I think the club has troubles as it is. With Rawlings gone i cant see a reason why we shouldnt grab Croad back, We need a tall bloke who can play forward and back. With Croady still being young i cant see why we couldnt have a real crack at developing his game and brain :p

I say lets have him back but on very less money and he would have to agree to tone everything down and be a footballer.
I mean why can't he have a second chance, screw the others half of them will be long gone and retired and croady can be with the younger players that are at the club now like Mitchell and Hodge he could even be in a leadership group i mean if he got his head straight he COULD do it and become an integral part again.

ALOT just won't admit it.It probably won't happen but it may just heal the club if he came back. Lets face it things have been bleak at the club since he was traded.Its almost like the club has been cursed for trading him and doing him wrong.

If Croady wanted back in he should be welcomed back hes a vic boy and was a symbol of hope some years back.It could change the fortunes of the hawks the last few years haven't been much chop.

*If Croady sees that he has no future at Freo and he swallows his pride then maybe he would agree.
* We don't know that he upset anyone. That sounds like the common rubbishing people heap on a player when they realise he's going - they need to justofy it to themselves so they make up stories. It may be true, but I just don't credit it.
*See point 1. He'll realise coming here is a final chance at doing something. I think he'd take a cut.
*Freo would be glad to offload him if half the posts on the Freo site are true.
*Melbourne are a stupid club. They would offer heaps more and this is to me the main reason why he wont ever be in our colours again.

Freo have agreed to pay for half of his contract if he is traded and he is not on 600K....i read how much he is on but i have forgotten now n i cant find it.....and there is no doubt he would want to come back he loves the hawkers !!!!
