Melbourne is out of the race for Jade Rawlings..
Jusst got a call then, the roos and cats have upped the offer again, and Meloburne is not willing to compete..
2 hours before Rawlings was going to announce he was A DEMON.. THAT STINGS!! Liam Pickering had already called the press to inform them of the announcement!!!
It is understood Ben Holland will be a demon though, and the dees will also intensify their bid for Nick stevens, and also essendon pair D Solomon, D jacobs..
Its a little bit more complicated than that as the Roos have only matched the Dees and Cats figure (although the Cats have gone up another $50k). But the lure of his brother and a stable club means he will be a Roo next year.
What will the Roos offer as a trade?

Would not say the roos are stable, mate!!!
Demons and cats are more stable i'd say..
I am a big believer that there are some tough times ahead for the poor roos!!
Is that on the back of our youngsters taking a massive leap this year, including around 8 1st round picks that have yet to play serious football yet but showed what they are capable of this year?
Or the fact that we had the AFL's best 1st year player?
Or the fact we just signed our biggest ever sponsorship deal?
Or the fact we have got new digs at Telstra Dome that have netted us significant gains already?
Or the fact that we just missed out on the 8 during our development year whilst learning a new gameplan and blooding kids?
Or the fact that the Shinboner spirit is the envy of every club in the AFL?
I don't mind Melbourne, but with the boardroom still unstable and the team struggling to make an impact, and with Daniher constantly under pressure, tell me you wouldn't be a little concerned being a potential player going in there.
Not like Carlton, but still needs a lot of work!

Tough times ahead, have u been living under a rock for the last few years. This is the best we have been off the field in years our major sponsors have signed for another 3 years, we have a great bunch of young kids, plus some middle age leaders such as Simpson, Grant and Harvey to take over when Arch, Stevo and Kingy leave. I think the future is looking bright for the roos and if we get Rawlings that will help.

I MEANT ON THE FIELD!!
Dont get nasty, im just stating my own opinion, I like the roos! I didnt get nasty!!
Can someone who is a roos fan indicate who might be involved in a trade that sees Rawlings go to the Kangaroos? If that is where he chooses to go, what will be on offer?
I agree, the roos have some great young players - so can you guys ignore the baiting from those who don't agree for a moment and offer some food for thought?

The Roos would probably offer their first round draft pick plus a fringe player.
John Baird would probably interest the Hawks - he'd almost be a direct replacement for Rawlings in defence and he spent a couple of years with Box Hill (and Hawk fans are still dirty that we picked him up). I doubt the others that would be on the table (Teague, S.Motlop, Clayton, Smith) would interest the Hawks that much.
I think he'll end up at Geelong. Rawlings would improve North, but we're not as desperate for him as Geelong seem to be. And I think that the Cats can put a better offer to the Hawks than what we can.
I have a feeling that Harding may be the player traded, along with the 1st round pick.
The Hawks definately need a livewire forward and with the Roos looking at Boomer Mk.2, I think the Roos may look at this trade. Perhaps Baird as well in exchange for a draft pick.

What Shinners said, although I wouldn't be surprised if Jade wound up at North. If he would prefer North, for Brady and closeness to home/new wife and all, then it could get down to whether Hawthorn would risk losing the lot to hold out for the better deal. Maybe they'd be satisfied with pick 9, Baird and another player - although I'm also struggling to think what Hawthorn need and we have and would be prepared to give up.

Another supporter who looks at his own club and says who can I offload. You obviously didn't see much of Mark Williams this season. Harding is not required by the Hawks.
As for John Baird, how many times did he actually play key position this season. We already have half a dozen mid to tall half backs. He is more likely than Harding, but I wouldn't be over the moon with that trade from a Hawthorn point of view.
Hawk,
Please do not forget you are getting our first draft pick as well. Baird did play key position on number of occasions and he is 192 but does need to improve his strength.
I have to say I thought the same about Harding and Williams so I do not think you will be too happy about him.
Hawks might consider Smith who is good clearance player to help out Mitchell and Crawford.

Mark Williams has showed some promise but as yet delivered little (he's btter than the coach or the Kiwi singer though). He hasn't shown the potential or the actual of Harding yet (I'd be disappointed if North lost Harding). I'd think its more likely that Logie will go with pick 9 and thats about the best the Roos could do. Its actually a pretty good deal.

Its difficult to actually not do this.
Rawlings will defiantely demand #9, plus a player.
If the player slots into your team, that would probably be enough - or perhaps a young kid with potential though I am not sure who we would be willing to offer.
Unfortunately I haven't really watched enough of the hawks to get a good grip on who you would want in addition to the draft pick
If Baird, Teague, S Motlop, Smith or maybe Makepeace won't tempt you then it will be interesting to see how the trade goes - perhaps if no player tempts it might be some on trading from other clubs or a three way deal or something like that
The dees out of the race probably helps the Roos the most
I think we would struggle against the Dees putting up pick 5. while Geelongs pick 7 just seems that little bit closer to pick 9 - at least we are still in single figures

Rawlings is a great player, but I would be ****ed if melbourne traded our 2 early picks. Realistically we are at least 2 years off having a good side, i'd prefer getting a young gun who won't demand 400k a year (next year) and let the team develop together.

Ironically, I feel the same way as you. The Roos were reasonably good this year - far better than the spoon as many had tipped us. But we're at least 2 years from being challengers. I'd much rather bring in a group of players together. Bringing in Rawlings is just a short term thing - he's 26. It's a different story if he was 23.
Naturally we don't have the benefit of the 2 early picks as Melbourne does. I don't think Melbourne will worry too much over missing out on Rawlings.

Apart from that Shinboner spirit being every club's envy rubbish, I couldn't agree with you more, it all adds up to some good times ahead for the Roo Boys.
Shinboner spirit, knock yourself down a peg or two mate.
But, in all seriousness, they are some very valid points that you make and I would imagine that any player give the choice of getting on board the Geelong, Melbourne or Roo bandwagons would jump on the Roo one, every time.
Now you just gotta work out which player is going to pick him up and chauffeur drive him to training every day.
