I like this trading business. The news has jst got better for the Dockers wih Rawlings choosing the Kangaoos. This means that Trent is the only half decent KPP left on the market(i dont rate Holland, he'll go to Adelaide anyway) . this means trent has all of a sudden worth more to the Dockers than he did an hour ago. His price has just risen.
there is a fair chance geelong , melbourne and carlton wil be hotly pursuing trent so make a decent ofer and they've got themselves a KPP.
Any offers.

I'm glad you said half-decent. That's all he is, and any team that trades heavily for him is foolish.

Trent Croads price has not risen. He has a price tag on him of $700,000 per year. Any club that wanted him would either have to pay all of that, or do a deal with freo to pay some. Also he has had an ordinary year, and to be honest, I beleived him when he said that hes not a Football player, hes an athlete.

i didnt mean his price had risen but his value in the trade market.

Thats what i also meant, Trent Croads baggage is the fact that anyone who trades for him also has to either keep paying him his $700,000 per year or do a deal with Freo. Most clubs couldn't afford that sort of money, Freo could because they have a young side. That plus the fact that he is an average player, means his value, i.e. what the Dockers could use him to get, lower picks, players etc is diminished.

Where in the hell did $700,000 come from, Every time I come on this board his pay seems to raise  From the information I have Croad is on alot less that certain media outlets are advising.

pick 5 for Croad and pick 14?

Could work...

I get ur point, but just to fix ur mistake i think he will be at $600,000 next year. i think if we can get a deal for the next year of two we will probably have to pay about 20% of his contract whihc isnt a huge deal unless we trade to get a high paid payer whch is unlikely. If we were to trade with StKilda for heath black it wouldnt matter because Black is on something like $400,000 a year. So if we did pay some of his salary it would be very minimal.

a) Armstrong has signed a 2 year contract.
b) He is younger than Croad.
c) He is better than Croad already.

Fuuny living over here in the west, ive heard nothing but Freo supporters saying they got burnt on the Croad deal, Mc Pharlin leveled that, but now he's supposedly a good KPP. Well watching a few Freo games myself I agree with the Freo supporters and say you got burnt, Croad is overated, and any club that gives up early picks for him is stupid.

If we did this then we deserve to be on the bottom of the ladder for the next 5 years

the only problem for the dockers is that Croad will be on a f,uck load next year and maybe even the following year.
Although he is a "handy" player he would be in the top 3 highest players at those weaker clubs, unfortunatly he would barely reach the top ten in playing ability.

the dockers will be desperate to trade this dud and try and forget this flop of a "recruiting coup".

but I must admit wooshta_9 Armstrong is a definite likely for the dockers, and he wants to come home to WA. Cant see many putting their hand up for the egirls, as most player want to play in a good future side

Croad for Black.

Only if Croad takes a mother-of-all pay cuts and plays off 300k next year.

yeh but hed have ta wear purple...

absolutely dreamin if u think ur gettin armstrong for croad..he is at best a fringe player now who is on a huge salary...the only way anyone will take him is if freo agree to pay half his salary, and then youll only get a 2nd/3rd round pick for him, or a fringe player in return.

croad for joshy wooden, and freo "we'll be good in a few years" dockers pay half his salary

Spot on Everton. Croad is a horrendous millstone round Freo's neck and will endanger the tenure of some of their good young players due to salary cap. A similar situation to Everitt with us, look what has happened at the Hawks now...sure they got Eveitt and he'll be OK, but now they've lost Rawlings and nearl;y lost Lekkas.
Freo would off load Croad to anyone who would pay for him...they'd take a third round draft pick and drive him to the airport. Croad for Black doesn't interest me...at least Black can play a bit and seems to give a shyt when he's out there. If we did get Croad he'd play in the back half and be on half the salry and he'd consider himself lucky...maybe he'll get a wake up call that the footy lifestyle can be over in the blink of an eye.

Good point about Rawlings but most of our players are signed until 2005. And after next year, Clive will retire which will free up his reported 400k a year, and Farmer has re-signed for a fair bit less apparently.

Croad's contract was backloaded a bit meaning he will get more this year than the last 2 years where he got a fair bit less. He has reportedly already taken 2 100,000 cuts and might have to take another one.

If worse comes to worse, and we need to clear up cap space, we can always trade him to Carlton for next to nothing. If we don't have cap issues, then I'd be happy keeping him for another year, because his trade value is at an all time low.... and it might diminish even more next year but I'd be prepared to take that risk.

If I was a footballer from WA playing for a Victorian club, I would chose West Coast in front of Freo in a second. You Freo supporters are deluding yourselves if you think you are more attractive to players than West Coast and have a much more promising future.

wooshta_9, you are also deluding yourself if you think Melbourne would even consider trading Armstrong, let alone for Croad. Croad is possibly the most overpaid player in the AFL, he was dropped to the WAFL midseason, he didn't get over 14 possessions in a game for the entire season, and he only kicked 18 goals (from 17 games). Trust me, no club is going to be falling over themselves to get Croad.
If Freo offered a deal that favoured us, like Croad for wheatley (or similar fringe player) or Croad for 3rd pick (we'd have to trade for a third rd pick b/c we are using ours on Johnson), and agreed to pay some of his salary then I would take it but I wouldn't be losing any sleep if we didn't get him.
