Last I heard Nathan Ablett was happy staying at his country club and not wanting to play AFL footy. Is this still the case? Because we really need him at Geelong seeing he's so tall and a good mark.
Anyone got any news on him?

How's your mate Jimmy? Learned how to spell his name yet?
I know plenty of the boys from Modewarre as i dont live that far from their home ground. From what i've been told and its not anything new is that he is pretty much happy coasting through life as is. He doesnt have the fire in the guts to be a afl footballer. He won't play afl....and it's a shame because his old man reckons nathan is the better footballer

If someone had the talent why wouldn't they want to play AFL football?

Because the pressure of having your father Gary Ablett is too much sometimes, especially when the media following your every move and expect you to be just like your father. Let him play footy...

If my Father was the best football player ever i'd still play.

Because they want to be a tradey, hang out with their mates at the local pub on the weekends after having a friendly kick-about at the local footy club, go surfing during the week, date the local girls, buy a simple house with a vegi patch, and go about a quiet and happy life.

Carey had a relative, younger brother/cousin who was meant to be pretty handy. The Club spoke to him about playing and he said he would, but no training, no club comitments, he just wanted to get payed, play footy, drink beer and chase chicks. Didnt get picked up, and is of doing what he wants to do.

Having played twice against the kid this year, he is a gun .
But, you can tell his heart really isnt in football, like it bores him.
I think the only way Geelong will have Nathan Ablett, is if Gary Snr was back at the club in any form

Gary Snr. is back at the club, just not in an official capacity.
It's taken time, but he now attends every home game, and also goes into the rooms before the game.
I certainly hope he gets drafted by the Cats this year.
He sounds like the answer to our probs :)

Hypothetical question, if he nominated for the draft where would he get picked up? Is he as good as Cooney or a top 5 pick? I've never seen him play.

Hypothetically, if he wanted to play AFL football, Geelong would pick him up under the father son rule. If he wanted to play elsewhere, who knows, but you could guarantee he would be gobbled up pretty quick.

My question was that if he went into the draft but didn't go with the cats as a father/son which I know is unlikely. I was just trying to work out his talent.
He's a definite top 10 pick but he won't enter this seasons draft.
