Assume Port Adelaide think they're legitimate contenders for the flag next year.

Assume they also believe that Collingwood will again be a direct rival for the flag.

Assume Nick Stevens nominates Collingwood as his preferred club.

Now:
Why would Port strengthen Collingwoods team by allowing Stevens to go there?

We have a special trick to deal with Nick that only Roos fans know of. Stuart Cochrane.

I agree that if Melbourne offered a similar deal, we'd prefer to trade with them.
