Adelaide had a supreme third quarter to win 89-82 (I think thats the exact scores) As the Titans finally got defeated again. K.B 27 pts, Mahersy 23

In Perth, Wollongong came from 17 pts at 1/2 time to lead by 3 at the end of the 3rd. Grace had three foul shots to tie the game, he did, overtime and the Hawks prevailed 106-104

How sweet it is QT. The scores were 99-92, 89-82 was the game 2 weeks ago. Well, as BUBBA said the Sixers were very scared of Titans  so much so we were pissing in our pants :D :D How ever once the Sixers got into their game it was obvious to see who was the better team, and what a bunch of pussies the Titans really are, when challenged by a good team. I can't wait for the rematch in a couple of weeks.

QT, did you watch the game on Foxtel?? Steve Carfino was going on about how the Titans have the wood on us and have a great winning streak against the Sixers

The Titans have only beaten us twice in a row, including a tough 3 game semi-final series. Before that, we had a win streak of about 5 over them, including a couple 20 point thrashings at Melbourne Park. Now that is a real domination over a team, not a few close wins that could have gone either way.

Just you all wait till the 31st of March. At our home god help you guys.
Well at least we are securely on top of the ladder, and come plays offs that when it will really count.
So bring on the rest of the season and can't wait till the final.

GO TITANS

Hmmm another setback. But i have faith and at least its better to have a bad patch now than in the playoffs. Once the chemistry gets working again with Rogers back in the flow i think we will come out with Back to Back wins.

OK, Ive always said if you give it youve gotta be able to take it, so congrats QT/Ant
the Eastaugh 36'rs outplayed us and were too hot on the three point line, having said that im looking forward to our rematch as well, it will be at our house so well see what happens then, still think itll be a Titans v Wollongong playoff, but time will tell, so guys congrats and enjoy :)

ps. was that the Vic Bushrangers that kicked your clackers last week Ant ;) Must admit Blewy batted superbly both innings, but what about that man Harvey!!!! Cheers

Yeah the Vics gave us a touch up in the cricket, I can't believe we lost 7/22 on the 5th day. Once Harvey got that reverse swing going he was very dangerous and he got the crucial wickets. Very happy with Blewey though. :)

As for the basketball BUBBA, your humility in defeat is much appreciated :) The finals race is getting really tight and a number of teams could make it to the best of three grand final series. I just hope this win is a turning point for us and we can have a bit of a winning run to the finals. Woollongong have the potential but I favour one of the finals experienced/hardened teams going all the way e.g. Titans, Sixers, Perth.

I've been reading the Titans/36ers/Wildcats discussions for the last few months with much interest.

Just thought that I would get off the fence and announce before we win the championship that I am another former North Melbourne Giants fan that is now a keen Victoria Titans supporter. :)

In all seriousness, it looks to be a four team race and it's really starting to heat up. If the Titans don't go all the way, I would love to see the Woollongong Hawks win because their point guard, Damon Lowery, was my old basketball coach about 5 years ago when he was played for the Altona Gators. Of course, like most Victorian's, beating Adelaide and Perth is always enjoyable. Particularly Adelaide, due to one particular AFL Grand Final and having a lot of relatives in SA. ;)

Good luck for the rest of the season all.

I agree Sainter, definitly a 4 team race. The Kings suck and i cant see the Crocs putting up a fight. Question mark over the Hawks though is that they dont have any real playoff experience compared to the more experienced Titans Perth and 36ers outfits.

Perth over the 36ers in 3.

The hawks will run outta gas when the huge play off games come..

and can anyone please count how many yanks play for the Hawks, i thought yuo were only meant to have 2

Dench(Hes a yank isnt he?), Lowery, T.Thomas.......

Congrats to the 6ers on their win. Too good from three point land told the story for us and we just couldn't buy a defensive board. Pretty happy to still be a couple clear on top though :D I was worried about Perth earlier in the season but lately they have thrown in a few stange games and now I am wondering how serious a contender they are, especially considering I predicted another Wildcats/Titans playoff.

If we can't get there then the Hawks would be my next tip, gotta be better than Adelaide or Perth ;)

Sainter, I'm a little dirty about a certain grand final as well, in 1994 when Darryl McDonald hit that shot over Brett Maher at the buzzer to win game one, and then the series. D Mac's a darn good player but I've despised him since :)

QT, I think Charles and Melvin Thomas are the Hawks imports. Dench I think may be an Aussie who went to college in America while Lowery has been playing in Australia for more than 10 years and therefore is an Aussie citizen. Cheers.

Elt you are mistaken to count out Perth. We've been to the top of the mountain more times than club in NBL history and just cos were in a rut doesnt mean we wont be there when the business gets serious.

Honest thoughts on MVP this year and All NBL First Team.

Grace for MVP

PG Grace
SG Gaze
SF McKinnon
PF ??? Cant pick one
C ??? also still hard to choose.

Just saying Jod that if you are going to have a rut, coming up to the playoffs isn't the time to do it. BTW, one hell of a rut, dropping games to three of the teams you are writing off (Titans, Hawks, Kings) and also to Cairns !?!

Grace for MVP? Whilst he may score more than D-Mac he is well behind in assists, steals and makes way more turnovers. McKinnon over J. Smith is also a close call.

I agree about the centre position being hard to call but Bradtke has some pretty impressive stats this season, especially considering how badly the Tigers have gone by their standards.

Darnell Mee should be MVP, just my opinion, though I reckon somebody else will get it. By the way, I read that Grace had 11 turnovers against the Hawks. Man, he really knows how to take care of the ball :)

He doesnt make that many all the time, he just had a bad game usually he gets about 4 or 5 but he makes up for it with his assists.

elt
3 Mar 2001, 04:23
Yeah 11 is high even for Grace, he is averaging 5.4 turnovers per game at the moment and 8.1 assists per game. D-Mac has 7.6 assists/game and 3.8 turnovers/game. One of his big weapons is steals though where he averages 3.2/game compared to less than one for Grace.

5.4 Turnovers a game isnt that bad for a Point guard.................
