What was the last cd you purchased? Any good?

Mine was Dropkick Murphys- Blackout. They are head and shoulders my favourite band ever, love their style and the mix of traditional irish songs with folk-punk as well as their original stuff. Blackout is a lot more polished than the other albums they've released, still got a lot of heart though. Favourite song from the album is a toss up between 'buried alive' and 'worker's song'.

Oi!

"Dear Catastrophe Waitress" by Belle and Sebastian. I've only had one listen.....I think it'll take a few more listens before I really get into it. I blame Trevor Horn's production - it looks like he's totally removed any warmth that B&S usually have on their CDs.

"A Little Distraction" by the Lucksmiths. Brilliant, just wonderful. I was about to get sick of these guys, but this little EP is fabulous. "Honey Honey Honey" is a great song - their best since "The Year of Living Langrously"

"Strangely Beautiful" by Club 8. They've moved away from their dance sounds and back to the acoustic Field Mice-ish sounds of earlier records. A very sweet record.

"Down With Love" soundtrack. Just to hear Astrid Gilberto do "Fly Me To the Moon" and the track called "Here's To Love" recorded by Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor. Great music to cook to.

"Lesser Matters" by The Radio Department. Swedish pop band who do something like the Jesus And Mary Chain mixed with Talulah Gosh. That's a good thing kids.

"You're Still Young At Heart" - compilation by Shelflife records. Shelflife bands covering other Shelflife bands to celebrate the label's 50th release. Great fun for people who love their indie-pop.

Embarrassingly it was Evanescence - Fallen, which I bought on impulse at the airport. I wished I hadn't bothered within two hours of doing so. Prior to that it would've been Hail To The Thief by Radiohead and Man With The Movie Camera by the Cinematic Orchestra.

What's bazooka tooth like?...i've heard mixed reviews.

Vik Vaughn's a great album, even though I'm starting to get sick of MF Doom putting old movie excerpts on his albums.
He sure does like to use his multi's though.

Was foolish enough to purchase The Essential Ozzy Osbourne because of the variety of titles on it. Very poor sound quality and the digital remastering does nothing for Ozzy. Leaves you feeling groggy and lately have only been wanting to listen to their live stuff. :(

Last time I bought a CD, I bought three:

Motor Ace - Shoot This: average. Nowhere near as good as Five Star Laundry, or the EP. Disappointing. :( I beg you MA...go back to your old stuff!

Powderfinger - Vulture Street: Fkn brilliant. Very different to Odyssey Number Five, definitely a more similar sound to their original stuff. Love it.

Blur - Best of: Awesome. I've been getting into Blur lately, and thought it was probably the best place to start. I was right, I love it/them.

Last 5 I bought..

Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
I love this album, I can't believe I have been without it for so long, heaps better than that new **** he's put out.

Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends
Sara Storer - Chasing Buffalo
Donovan - Catch the Wind

All great CD's, Donovan's was a bargain at $2.50 new, so I was pretty pleased with that.

Something Corporate - Leaving Through the Window

Huge mistake! If anyone out there is thinking about buying this, DONT! It's crap.

Ooh, yay. That might be one of the next ones I buy. If it's as good as Like A Stone (I LOVE that song, as well as Cochise), I'm looking forward to it. If I ever pay off everything else...residence applications, concert tickets, revision lectures... ahh well. Blowing my spare money on Powderfinger tix was (will be) worth it! :p

It's not Parallel Lines (the greatest album ever released), but it's very good, and Deborah's vocal are still sensational.

Just managed to get my hands on: Kings of Convenience - Versus, off ebay.

I had been looking for the CD for a while after hearing a few tracks off the net, but I couldn't find it at any local stores. It is the kind of CD that grows on you, but I can't really describe who they sound like.

My favourite track would have to be either Royksopps remix of 'I Don't Know What I Can Save You From' or Andy Votel's remix of 'Winning a Battle, Losing a War'

Living Colour's return album - Collide0scope... was pleasantly suprised to hear they had reformed and released this. Still getting my head around it. Interesting production (produced by the band with bassist Doug Wimbish over-seeing most of it). Very heavy on the low end but still works well. And their cover of AC/DC's "Back in Black" sat me on my arse! Vocalist Corey Glover tears it to pieces!

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step.. Anything with Josh Freese playing drums on it is worth the $$. So far not overly blown away by the album. Certainly not terrible though.

Jet - Get Born... they may as well have just released a Beatles/The Who and Rolling Stones cover album.

Front End Loader - Ape Got Fire... Rockin'!

Limp Bizkit - Results May Vary... it was a b'day present. When it all comes down to it and you take away all the media hullabaloo and Fred Durst's ego etc etc, Limp Bizkit are very good at what they do.

I forgot:

Magic Dirt - Tough Love... Excellent release from an ever-improving act with an even more improved vocalist (some would justifiably say that she bloody needed to!!).

Great power-pop, intelligent song writing and very well played. Almost a completely different band to when they first broke onto the scene.
