View Full Version : If you were paid $125,000, would you barrack for another club rather than Essendon?

No this is not a poll, just think honestly how you'd approach an offer like that.

It's the dilemma facing Solly right now....

I'd be tempted to take the money, but I wouldn't enjoy it.

There are times when the heart must rule over the head..this is one of those times.

I would barrack on the outside but support my true team on the inside...until the money arrives and then go back to Melbourne.

There's a difference between barracking and playing for.

Personally, I have a feeling Dean will take the money and run, the judas c***.

That's a lot of money, and remember that's in one year...so on a three year contract, that's approaching half a million. That's a lot of money to say no to. If he's really worth that much, the least we can hope for is to be adequately compensated.

Would I support Collingwood if I was paid $450,000 for three years? Of course. Think of all the time I could spend shoplifting or at the pub/in the gutter from the time I save by not showering or brushing my teeth...

Sheesh, this is twisted. My bad.

How could you actually verify that a person barracked for a club? Hypothetical questions are all well and good, but please, some plausibility! ;)

I read an article about Wayne Harmes where he said he was never a true Carlton man at heart. He treated it purely as an employee/employer relationship and he barracks for Richmond these days. That was a big surprise for me; i got the impression Harmes had a strong bond with the club.

Makes you wonder just how many players we have at Essendon that think the same way as him. The players that want to leave for more money are well and truly welcome to **** right off. I don't care who they are. Trade them for quality unselfish players with heart and a true love of the club and we'll be right.

i suppose it would depend on how much he is getting now as well.
if he does decide to leave, while i want to get something good in return, i'd be tempted to **** richmond up by forcing him into the draft. the way richmond are going about things is going to bite them on the ass eventually.

If Solly is being offered that sort of money than I wouldn't be upset if he went.... that sort of move I understand (as opposed to ****in Harvey who can bite me)

As long as he does all he can to ensure Richmond trade fairly I will be OK with it. Although of all the trades mentioned he is the one that I least want to lose.

My trade... Soloman for Coughlan.... Richmond are going to lose him to West Coast or Freo next year anyway. And I want to trade him with WC for Judd at the end of next year...

Oh well... I can dream.

I was told on the weekend by an EFC employee that the Bombers are none too happy with Solomon and his demands and will let him go for the right trade. Many feel as though sacrifices were made to keep him happy during his "gap year" and that he is earning pretty good money as is.

Cant say I disagree.

They're footballers, not brain surgeons.

With that said, there is not a single player at Richmond I ould take for Solomon, with the exception of Kane Johnson.

We will keep Ottens then.

I think you need him more than we do. We have a solid full forward and a developing young ruckman.

I like Ottens - I think he is talented, but I am not sure that he has truly proven himself yet in terms of what he can achieve. I know though he's had injury issues. Would take Ottens over Richo ANY day!! :D
