What do u think about Jacobs being up for trade? Even if it was to get Nick Stevens, Jacobs is going to be Essendons next fullback hows about we offer Port Bolton instead

Sorry mate you're wrong. Jacobs has far more trade value than Bolton, plus Bolton can play in more positions. He is more versatile. At the moment we have a luxury of tall defenders with Lucas, Fletcher, Wellman, Hunt etc. He is surlus to requirements IMO. No doubt he is a talented footballer but he could be used to stregnthen our list in other areas.

Hunt has a better chance of being our next full back than Jacobs does. He's bigger, stronger, faster. Jacobs has been good enough there when required, but he struggles against the quick leading types like Tredrea and Hall.

Port probably won't take either of Jacobs or Bolton. They announced that they can't take a player on who will cost them more than $200k due to salary cap pressure. Jacobs and Bolton are probably worth $200k, but our #13 pick isn't attractive enough. Port are looking for two draft picks, one of them rather high up. If we trade up in the draft and manage to snare a top ten or even top five we could offer that pick and Jacobs/Bolton and Port might bite. But of course, to snare a higher pick we'd have to offer someone like Jacobs/Bolton/Solomon.

hunt hasn't come close to proving himself at the elite level yet.
robert shaw said he was in a group of about 5 players (him, henneman, harvey, bannister, davies) who don't work hard enough, and really need to have a big pre-season this year.

i hope he can be our next full-back, but i'd still like to keep jacobs. certainly wouldn't want to throw him away for pick #22

Hunt missed half of the season through injury, but came back and was very solid at full back for Bendigo. He's as ready as he'll ever be. Jacobs just doesn't have the size or speed to really control the defensive 50m the way Fletcher does.

Note: "More likely to play at full back" does not equal "Is better than". Example: "Hunt is more likely to play at full back than Lloyd is" does not assert "Hunt is better than Lloyd."

Lmao thats the funniest thing i ever read man.. Lol...

Anyways i dont see us getting Stevens any more so all i can say is sign up Jacobs.. He is definatley a required player who isnt even in his prime yet... We cant lose him.

Trading one of Jacobs or Solomon makes perfect sense. Both 188cm defenders. Too short for key back positions, can't play midfield or forward with any real conviction. That just leaves the back flank positions, which can be filled by McPhee, Wellman, Bolton, Rioli.

We have 6 half back flankers. Two of them have high trade value and are currently holding out for the big moolah. My preference would be to trade Solomon because he has just come off his best season so his asking price is too high, and he probably has more trade value at the moment than Jacobs. He is also very sloppy, kicked 11.20 and gave away more free kicks than any other player in the league. Definitely sounds like Richmond material to me.

We would have said trading Mercuri in 99 would be absolutely insane at the time. Imagine what we could have got for him in a trade back then..

I don't think Solomon had his best season last year, but I agree that if we trade him we could end up with a very nice return. There are quite a few clubs after him, so it could become a nice little bidding war.

I'd rather see Solomon stay than Jacobs, he's stronger and quicker than Jacobs, and can play through the midfield. I also think his best football is still ahead of him. Although, I don't think Jacobs is as attractive to other clubs as we think.

Jacobs is trade bait..we need solly becuase of his aggression.

Hunt is a super athelete with great skills. A booming kick from full-back. No doubt our next full-back

Jacobs has huge trade value on the market, But from what I gather Jacobs ask to be traded due to a lack of respect from the coach or something like that.
