Thankyou VERY MUCH St. Kilda for letting go of some of the greatest players. They played a few games for the Saints back in the late '90s (if you can remember), but now they're the most favoured players at the Central District Football Club (SANFL). Not to mention the most hated by opposition clubs in the SANFL!!!!

If you want to see what they've done, go to www.cdfc.com.au and look at the forum of the supporters when they talk about them. Its hard to believe that these guys didn't make your team.

Also we have Daniel Healy back from St. Kilda (he played for us originally anyway) and he's our captain.

Is Sheidow Park much of a suburb?

No....well maybe ;)

But I'm chasing a stunner of a bird who's coming to Melbourne in December.

Just wanted to know if it's a spiffy suburb, in which case I'll have to put on one hell of a show at home :p

Down south I think near Hallett Cove but can't say I know too much about it.

I always rated Daniel Healy....the longest and most accurate kick in the AFL at one time (according to Sam Newman among others). I remember that game against Weagles when he kicked 6 and was outmarking Jakovich and we came from behind playing into a 3 goal breeze to win. From memory I think that day was Healy's birthday. I was surprised no-one picked him up when we delisted him.

Hehehe. That's a good enough reason. If its down near Hallet Cove it would be justifiable to assume that the suburb is pretty good. Hallet Cove has some REALLY nice and BIG houses, dont know whether this is the case with where this bird lives.

Do you keep in contact with them? When I first saw them play for Centrals I thought that they would be aggressive off the field as well as on the field. How wrong was I!!! They are the nicest blokes you'll ever meet. Opposition supporters hate them with a passion, but us Centrals supporters love them. Really they're now the face of the Central District Football Club. Everyone loves them!!!

They lived two streets away from me, and I played tennis with them and their brother & sister at Albion.

They were regular after-school kick to kickers at Selwyn Park, and used to bring along their big sheepdog kinda thing. Never thought much of them as footballers at that age, but they must have worked hard to get onto an AFL list, and become very good SANFL and VFL players. Always very prominent in the SANFL games I've watched this season and usually in the bests in the papers.

they seemed good kids.

I lived in werribee when they dominated what was then the VFA, i think werribee played a lot of finals and won a few flags in the late 90s.

When they went to st kilda instead of the doggies i was very happy being a resident in that area and saints fan.

they were both delisted at end of 1999?

i think it may have been solid but average players in the senior competition.

healy was a good half forward, but frankly didn't often go and get the hard ball.

healy was a rnd 1 draft pick from memory.

sometimes average AFL players are dominant in the magoos or secondary competitions.

from what i have seen the SANFL is about the same as the current VFL for quality and both are a bit ahead of the WAFL.

Some good players run around in the VFL, but SANFL is full of those not quite good enough or too young.

Healy was the number 6 pick in the 94 (?) national draft

Had a good 5 or 6 seasons to prove himself and wasn't up to it. In his final season he won the Gardiner medal after only playing around 11 reserves games so that about summed him up. A very good player in the second tier competitions.

Disappointed the Gowans weren't kept around a little longer. I heard at the time (not sure if it was true) that they didn't want to be seperated. James had broken into our senior side and played a handful of games while Chris didn't play in the seniors. Is James the slightly better player these days or are they about the same?

I would consider both players to be about the same in football ability. When they first came to CDFC i thought James was a tiny bit better but in recent seasons i think Chris has stepped up. So at the moment i couldn't split them. Excellent servants to the club.

Very true LUFC. Occasionally frustrating with their discipline, but their skils and devotion to the team more than make up for that.

Just letting u know that james won the best and fairest for cdfc on the weekend. Both players had excellent seasons with Chris also finishing 3rd. I hope they continue to play on but once again i've heard rumours that there heading back to Victoria
