bolton will not be traded by sheedy even if he has only played one season of football in 6. he is sheedys new kevin walsh. at least now he is showing a bit so he will not be traded. if solomon wants to leave we have some bargaining power, and if port want jacobs maybe something doing there wiith stevens, but otherwise i believe will be another season of essendon swapping border-line players (ie harvey) with other border line players from other clubs (ie allan, motlop etc). 2005 maybe the year we start to play when mercuris stupid contract is finally up

And Hird may have retired, taking his monstrous contract with him.

I don't want to see Bolton traded - he needs to be able to stand at CHF for us whilst Johns/Layc.ock develop, even if he doesn't kick bags, he will attract a key defender. Can also play back or tag in the guts. Must keep.

I think the operative word is "stand". Bolton is the best decoy CHF we have ever had. But Somerville was a better decoy ruckman.

Johns will get a go in the key forward slot next season. Bolton is not a key forward. Has never looked the part.

Bolton may attract a key defender, but good defenders will also realise that we'll be really looking for Lloyd and will zone off Bolton. They know Bolton isn't going to hurt them as much as a forward. But if we get someone like Johns in there who is a genuine forward, it'll make the defence much accountable. It'll also relieve a lot of pressure on Lloyd.
