I will second that. A great player and it is a shame to see him leave the club. Best of luck wherever you end up, I hope they can pay you what you want.

Yes Solly thank you for all the clangers and free kicks you gave away.

Can;t say I'm overly disappointed losing him. Godd player but being hyped up way too much.

Get ****ed dean....was my fav play at essendon.....go to punt road and take your 400k a year pay check...it will keep you happy while you watch your old teamates play in finals and win premierships. God knows you wont be doing that at richmond

Enjoy your extra cash Dean. Thanks for paying the club back after it bent over backwards for you last year. With whats happened to Ramma I can't believe a guy could leave for extra cash.

Get lost Dean, you hero!

Take your useless kicks, free kicks against and your clangers to the team that breeds them the best..... Richmond

Now Bowden will have a close contest for the Team clangers award one that he has won hands down for years.

If you think you are worth $400k you are kidding yourself. This club looked after you unreal last year including flying you to London last year to stay with you girlfriend for months.
Now you take the loot and just F*** off.

Good riddance.
Hope you enjoyed your last finals match.
20 metres out and missed at a critical time in the second quarter.

This F***ing hurts. I still can't believe it. He's been such a part of our team in the last few years, gave so much to the club, and the club gave him so much - and now he just walks out on his mates and his supporters. FFS this is so wrong.

hate to say it but some of us are staring to sound like the ****er whingers from the other clubs. Sad to see him go, but the dons have still got the opportunity to up is pay and keep him. he only! wants 280k per year to stay, but dons wont go over 260k. is he worth an extra 20k to stay. i think he is, but the club is obviously keeping cash to fit in allan, who will be overpaid, and stevens, on 400k per year, also overpaid. In the end thats the clubs decision, not solomon, and although i agree that the club has been good to him, solomon has definetely given his all to the dons. how many don players do you think are on over 280k.
hird (worth it)
lloyd (worh it)
fletcher (worth it)
lucas (worth it)
johnsons (both worth it)
misiti (no where near it anymore)
mercuri (a joke)
wellman (worth it)
id prefer to open up space to get rid of the low end semi-established players like henneman, mcveigh, and even bolton to keep the toughness of solomon, a hard thing to find these days

No, no, no, no! I refuse to believe this is happening. :(

I don't care if he's money hungry or not. I want him in our team. :(

Still, if he's willing to go hurt us all like this, especially after last year...well...**** him.

See ya Deano

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

Ah who cares? ****en hack. Maybe now Essendon won't have the worst free kick for/agst ratio in the league. There are certain moments in a player's career that stick in your memory. I will NEVER forget that goal he missed in the Port final. $400k, hahahaha!!!!

I'd prefer if this was called the 'p*iss off Solly you ungrateful prick' thread.

I hope he goes to Geelong, at least screw the Tigers...

BERT

I wouldn't call him a hack. He is a bloody important player for us, He has decided that 22 games max is all his body can take so he is off to Richmond. No finals any more for you.

I cant believe this is ****en happening !
Lets hope we get a player who wants to give it their all for the RED and BLACK, and isnt a money hungry bastard.

I don't usually get upset by this stuff BUT...

for 20k why doesn't he just say "oh well doesn't matter I'll stay anyway as I am loyal"

The club has to draw a line somewhere. How many players have we given extra for only to have to trade them latter anyway after they haven't given what we expected for the money. This type of thing has to stop at Essendon and it looks like they have done it with Solly.

He spent last yr off on full pay and they sent him to England with their money for no return until this yr which he was always going to struggle in. Tell me how he qualifies for a pay rise under those circumstances? Stupid player managers!!!!

**** off Solomon how the **** can you be doing this? After what the EFC have done for you, now you decide to shaft them where it hurts. There was a number 7 on my back.....

Gee people do you reakon you could start the abuse after he actually leaves?? Maybe Fletcher should match what EFC cant pay out of his own contract seeing he has cost his team mates 2 finals series, and now round 1 2004. I cant belive some of the crap you people are saying, absolute crap! Youre starting to sound like carlton supporters! What you gonna say if he doesnt leave (which I dont think he will!)??

Asking a player to stay on for less than what another club is offering when what his current club is offering him is a quarter of a million dollars a year is definitely NOT living in a world where people don't play sports for money.

Money should never ever be a factor in your employment. If you are happy with where you want to work, you'll stay there. If not, then you move. Solly's grad for money ahead of loyalty and enjoyment is really sad.

Thanks Solly, but, if you think you are actually going to be happier at Richmond than here, you must have better beliefs in faith than I ever thought you had.

While you are there, ask young Blumfield how he's going? How much does he miss the adulation and gaining further experience in finals.

A post I made on the forum at the official Essendon website:

Best of luck Dean at your new club. I'm disappointed that you didn't want to stay, and although as much as it is easy for us to criticise you for it, I understand that weighing up a hundred thousand dollars against loyalty is a difficult thing. I hope that you, your new club, and Essendon can reach an amicable agreement. I dearly hope that when you play against us you will not have to bear the wrath of Essendon supporters. You are a premiership player, and I am grateful for your sterling efforts involved in bringing us that premiership. I am grateful for your gutsy performance this year after coming back from a major injury. I am disappointed that you were not willing to stay with the exciting group of youngsters at Essendon, but I'm sure we'll all get on with life soon enough and realise that Dean Solomon is the best man to make decisions for Dean Solomon.

I agree. He'll be playing far less football at bitchmond for a truckload more money. He'll also get annual leave throughout september.

Good on him.

Yeah thanks Dean.

Thanks for nothing. Hope your money keeps you happy next September while your watching from the sidelines after Richmond again doesn't make the finals. You won't care though will you....you'll have your money.
