Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jarrod_Molloy)

Jarrod Molloy (born 12 May 1976) was an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. A key position player, Molloy was trialled in both attack and defence as his career wore on, with most success enjoyed near the goalmouth.

Although he had some success with both Fitzroy and Brisbane, Molloy hit his straps upon reaching Collingwood. He immediately assumed the role of a club leader, and surprised many in finishing runner up to Paul Licuria in the 2001 Copeland Trophy.

At the end of 2003, Molloy announced his retirement from the game at the age of 28, citing the desire to be able to walk properly on his troublesome ankles. He is the son of former Fitzroy defender and VFA coach Shane Molloy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shane_Molloy).

Molloy farewells Magpies (http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/10/01/1064988270252.html)
By Peter Ker, Jake Niall
October 2, 2003

Collingwood has started pruning its senior squad just days after the club's second successive grand final defeat, with experienced duo Jarrod Molloy and Rupert Betheras finishing their careers at the club.

Molloy, 27, announced his retirement from all levels of football to teammates yesterday, and Betheras, 27, was told to look elsewhere if he wished to continue at league level. Neither Molloy nor Betheras was selected in Collingwood's grand final 22, although both played in the team that fell nine points short of Brisbane in 2002.

Molloy told about 10 of his teammates yesterday of his decision to retire. The former Fitzroy and Brisbane Lions player said he been planning his life after football for more than a year now, but made the decision to retire only before playing in VFL side Williamstown's preliminary final win over Port Melbourne on September 14.

My favourite Jarrod memory is watching him kick seven at the MCG against the Demons in 97. The Bears fans around me had never heard of him.
