View Full Version : just what is our plan ???
our management has always been great but at the moment i worry !! not resigning the cream of our list has us lieing around like a big fish waiting to have our belly sliced open and our insides pulled out. are we so confident that these players wont leave us becauce of our success or is it we dont care and dont need them anyway or are we hanging on to the last minute to maybe save a few dollars or is their a cunning plan mmmmm
i hope they know what they are doing!!!. as from next week the fishmongers market is open and as the sharks circle it wont take much to slide back where we came from.
thoughts guys

I have confidence in the club that they will trade the neccessary players to keep the players we need for another flag next year. Our cap is near bursting point, I'm not surprised we have probably half a dozen players out of contract. The club will trade off enough to keep enough money to sign on the important uncontracted players. The club will know the needs that are to be met and they will trade off what is required to sign up players. If the club doesn't want to get rid of a particular player, but an awesome offer is made, I believe they will take it.
Our main priority next week is getting high draft picks. I will be happy with 1 or 2 draft picks in the top 10. Hopefully 1 draft pick in the top 5.
i hope so special, but with so many unsigned it does leave us open to the vultures from the south. i would feel a lot happier to have at least half of these boys signed. surely that would leave us with plenty of bargaining power come next week.it would be a shame to loose guys we have worked so hard to get to the lions over the last few years. take power as an example a fine young man with a great future, maybe a future captain but at the moment the doggies are frothing at the mouth hoping to get him down south, are we not being proactive by not sorting out some sort of agreement as yet, or are we using him as some sort of draft candy ??? same for lappin and the rest of them. i hope we dont outsmart ourselves and finish with bugger all.
any more news on contract signings ??

most of the unsigned are with the same manager aren't they? if that's the case - what the hell is his problem!??!
I really hope he's got the interests of the players ahead of his own interests in $$$
It does seem like a rather big coincidence.
Could lose one of them but don't expect more than that.
Managers are the scum of the earth. I can't see why more players don't do their negotiations and save themselves 15% of their wage.

This isn't a problem of course with Jason Akermanis! What I would like to see though is players negotiating for their team mates. Of course then you have a spat when Mal Michael trades Luke Power to Fremantle! :p

Nah.
Lukey is pretty smart.
Lukey would no sooner arrive at Freo, than he would work something out to trade Michael back to Collingwood in exchange for himself going back to the Lions and Molloy ending up at Freo.
Then Michael and Molly could SMS each other all season congratulating each other on getting Lukey a 4th Premiership medal:D
