Noel Mugavin (born 28 June 1956 in Warrnambool) is a former Australian rules footballer who played his short but bright career with Fitzroy and Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Due to suffering a terrible back injury in 1982 Noel retired and never played in the VFL again.
His nephew is Brisbane Lions centre half forward Jonathan Brown.

But the clubs best sustained success came in the early 1990s in teams coached by former Fitzroy and Richmond backman Noel Mugavin.

Lion fan's lament a sign of the times (http://www.theage.com.au/news/sport/lion-fans-lament-a-sign-of-the-times/2006/06/01/1148956482871.html?page=fullpage)

IT WAS one of the enduring memories of the 2003 grand final (and one that will stick in the craw of Collingwood fans for a long time), of the Brisbane Lions fan proudly display the huge "Game Over Joffa" placard as the Lions rocketed to a 50-point win. Well, it's been back on our radar this week when, with some minor adjustments to the wording, it was used as our cover shot looking ahead to tomorrow night's big Magpies-Lions clash at the MCG.

But wait, there's more to this photograph than we ever knew. You see, we now discover that the young bloke holding the sign is a then 16-year-old named Ben Mugavin, son of former Fitzroy and Richmond player Noel Mugavin and cousin of Brisbane champion Jonathan Brown. Which is probably of no great significance — but this is. Ben, it turns out, is a promising player himself, with the irony being that this year he was picked up by Williamstown, the VFL affiliate of … Collingwood!

Full back has to be Peter McCormack played half a game against Collingwood at Vic Park in the mid 80's and from memory BT kicked about 6 on him.

Could never have Mugavin in the side, I used to have the famous 35 on my jumper. Although I rekon his best ever game was against us at VFL park.
