Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_McIvor)
Scott McIvor (born 9 August 1966 in Queensland) was a former Australian rules footballer who played mainly with the Brisbane Bears but also had stints with Fitzroy and when both clubs merged, the Brisbane Lions.
Prior to starting his VFL career, McIvor captained his home state Queensland in the Teal Cup. At the age of 17 he was recruited by Fitzroy and finished second in their 1986 best and fairest before winning it in 1987.
The following season he returned home to Queensland and joined the Brisbane Bears who were playing just their second season in the AFL. McIvor remained with the club for ten seasons until they merged with Fitzroy for the 1997 season. He finished with 138 games for the Bears, only Roger Merrett and Marcus Ashcroft managed more. He spent just the one season with the newly formed Lions before injury forced him to retire.

A Brisbane-born Wilston-Grange junior, he was Queensland Teal Cup captain, B&F winner and All-Australian Teal Cup selection in 1983, and was a State senior representative at 17 in 1984.
Recruited under the old ‘Form Four’ system, he played 55 games with Fitzroy (1985-87), finishing second in the B&F in his second season and winning it as a 21-year-old in ’87. But despite having a promising career ahead of him in Melbourne he took the first opportunity to return 'home' and join the then Brisbane Bears in '88. Quickly becoming a key figure with the Queensland club, he played 65 consecutive games in 1988-89-90, finishing top four in the B&F each year, but suffered recurring injuries in 1991-92.
Vicecaptain in 1990-91, he bounced back in 1993-94-95 to post three more top 10 B&F finishes and play a key leadership role in a young side. A member of the Bears first finals team in ’95, he had further injury problems in 1996 but at the end of the Bears era he ranked third in all-time appearances behind Roger Merrett and Marcus Ashcroft. Was a member of the first Brisbane Lions side in '97 and in Round 19 became the second Queenslander behind Jason Dunstall to play 200 AFL games.

Fitzroy's last dance (http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/123486/default.aspx)

Fitzroy was not without its injury concerns either as the elimination final loomed, with No.1 ruckman Matt Rendell and champion full-forward Bernie Quinlan both sidelined, and Leon Harris rushed back into the side after missing six weeks with a broken leg. The stakes were high on a cold and wet day at Waverley, and if the then 20-year-old McIvor was not fired up enough about his first final, Parkin made sure he was right on the edge as the team prepared to file out of the rooms.
"Parko's come up to me, grabbed me, and he'd never done this before, looked me in the eye and said, 'Keep your eyes open for [Roger] Merrett at the first couple of centre bounces'. I was that pumped up to play, I was that excited.
"I remember being out on the ground in the warm-up and [Essendon coach Kevin] Sheedy was out there trying to fire them up. I don't know if 'Sheeds' would remember it but as he was firing them up, he was looking at me, and I was listening to him — there was plenty of fire and brimstone.
"It might have been the second or third bounce and I remember looking up and seeing Roger coming at me with the death glare on."
Merrett missed, and McIvor went on to have 25 disposals and kick a goal. He was rated best on ground in the one-point win.

One of Robert Walls' first steps upon his appointment as coach at the end of 1990 was to recognise that Roger Merrett, Scott McIvor and Michael McLean needed some experienced back- up.
Gowers cares about the team, the club and the city more than his predecessors. So, too, do Bews, McAdam and the others, and that is the quality that has endeared them to those who have been with the club all the way. ``It is a little hard for me to admit it, because a lot of those blokes were my mates," says McIvor. ``But there is a better quality of player around here now."

The club unveiled a new 200 game honor board at the Gabba last week which will include Fitzroy, Brisbane, and Brisbane Lion players. The board will be hung in the players' rooms with a replica planned for the members' area. The board itself has been christened the Curcio-McIvor board, in honor of past players Frank Curcio and Scott McIvor.
McIvor holds an equally special place in the club's history as the first Brisbane-based played to register 200 games, doing so with the Brisbane Bears and Lions after starting his career at Fitzroy. Originally from Wilston-Grange in the QAFL, McIvor represented Queensland at interstate level as a teenager and was recruited by Fitzroy in 1985. He was runner-up best and fairest the following year, and then won the award in 1987. A Queenslander through and through, he returned 'home' at the first opportunity to join the Bears in 1988, finishing 3rd, 2nd and 4th in club champion voting in his first three years at Carrara.
He eventually boasted eight top 10 best and fairest finishes, was club vice-captain in 1990-91, and was member of the Bears' first finals side in 1995. McIvor was a member of the very first Brisbane Lions side in 1997 before he retired due to injury at the end of that year, and was also an assistant coach in the club's first two premierships. McIvor and his wife Adrienne were guests at the dinner, while Curcio's son Michael and his wife Jenny were flown from Victoria to represent the family on the evening. The unveiling and dinner were attended by 500 guests.

McIvor quits Brisbane post (http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2002/10/09/1034061255678.html)
October 10 2002
Scott McIvor has quit after three years as an assistant coach with Brisbane. McIvor, who played a total of 200 games for Fitzroy and Brisbane, has told coach Leigh Matthews he wants to concentrate on his construction business, which has grown significantly in the past 12 months.
"It's got to the stage where I cannot run my business on a part-time basis while enjoying my full-time role with the football club," he said.
McIvor has been the specialist forward-line coach during the club's successive premiership years.

So what does McKenna have to say about those that were once known as the Brisbane Bears, the ones that set him up for his current position? Well, these are his quotes from early in the week. ''The Bad News Bears failed on the Coast. We are probably coming in to fix up their mess.'' That's such a stupid, ill-informed, ungrateful and disrespectful thing to say.
Men like inaugural coach Peter Knights, and players like Roger Merrett, Michael McLean, Scott McIvor, Martin Leslie and John Gastev deserve much better than that. They led the way when there was little interest, money and resources.

Fitzroy was a brilliant Club and a brilliant place to be. If there wasn’t that constant threat that the Club wasn’t going to survive, then I honestly don’t think I would have ever left.
At the end of 1986, all the players believed we were moving to Brisbane. We were told that the deal was done. But in the end it didn’t eventuate and things were constantly up in the air throughout 1987.
Then the Bears started up and there was a strong motivation for me to go back and play in my home State. It was opportunistic.
The Bears were unique and presented another set of challenges. It was a bit like coming out of the frying pan and into the fire. They had their own set of troubles which mirrored those at Fitzroy.
The advantage was that I was at home. It was tough being interstate in Melbourne and having your future up in the air. It wasn’t quite as daunting being back home.

Bloody good player! Played well with both Fitzroy and Brisbane. Injuries prevented probably prevented him from achieving his very best. Very similar to Richard Hadley, as a player and with injuries.
