Love him. But have just been looking at some old vids, cira 2000/2001, and he seems to have lost quite a bit of bulk since then (or is it just me?). I'm thinking it's because back then he was more the crash and bash midfielder but since we've lost bewick, long, blumfield etc he's had to do a lot more of the running midfielder role.
So do you prefer the new JJ or would you like to see him more like he was in 2000/2001 ?
He runs out games better than he did then....if had continued the way he played in 2000/2001 he would have been finished at 26. I'll never forget that bump on blakey in the 2000 pre-season cup final. He was a ferocious on baller and still is.
I dont mind JJ as he is now. He definatelty was alot more prelific in 00/01, and was definately the stand out of our midfield. But since then, I believe he has matured heavily. He has taken a small step away from the glitz and glamout fast pace running midfield work, that he usually did, and has now settled into a stightly more subtle role, forming an excellent partnership with Rioli in the midfield.

What about in the comeback game, crawling on his hands and knees for 10m as fast as what others were running, then he, MJ and Dimma Hardwick knocking out Shannon Grant with the best gang tackle of all time?

Johno is great for the side. He is my favourite player (along with Lloyd) and I love the way he goes about his game. A few years ago I was expecting a Brownlow from this guy but now, not so much. His game has changed, but I think it had to, for his sake. He is great for us, hardly ever misses a game, always contirbutes and if he can get more goals on the board in 2004, it will be a huge step towards the premiership. All midfielders need more goals for us in 2004.

IMO i reckon he is a much smarter fitter and better player now then what he was.

it may be me... but he is what Misiti was in the 2000/99/2001 sides the most subtle of our midfielders... just me of cours ei expect that others wont agree with me... but he is what we need if we get Winderlynch and Bullen right and Ramma and the "crew" with james having to sepnd more time forward....
