I know a few people from the Adelaide board are going to take a look at our new NSL team this Friday night when they play the Brisbane Strikers at Hindmarsh but is anyone else interested?

I shall be there along with a group of guys from my soccer team.
Should be a good one.

I'll probably be doing with my old man. My Crows gear can now double up as AU gear.

How many games have you been to recently to make the judgment?
I think you will find the atomospher at the United Game will be better than most Crows games.
I reckon the cheer squad may actually cheer.

Went to several in 2001 from memory, and it was horrible. Dunno why I wasted my time.
Gooners for life.

That's because soccer is so frickin boring you have to cheer and sing to entertain yourselves.

Yeah look out a national competition that can actually produce a fair and unbiased draw

Some other supporters from the Port board and some from here are meeting at the Joiners Arms Pub on Manton St in Hindmarsh.
Apparently United's cheer squad 'The Stand' will be making it their watering hole. Good 'nuff for me. ;) :D

Yes, fair point.
The support in Melbourne has always been fantastic.
Was amazed at the amount of blue red and gold at the Telstra Dome for the Collingwood game this year
Shame about the result though.:(
The colours, shirt and club name are all good.
What they need is a strong mascot. Something simple and effective that people can relate to - stay away from nicknames like 'The Force".
I kinda like The Dragons. IMO the main advantage to this nickname is that everyone knows what a Dragon is. Anyone from any background will recognise it, as Dragons are a part of many different cultures myths/folklore.
Maybe they should get their members to vote for a mascot on their website or in the paper. That would provide their supporters to have their first real say in the club.

Can I expect to see you there, Jerome? :)
I dont think so. I'm not really a soccer person. Good luck to them all the same.

Ahhh, you poor misguided type. ;)
I'll be leaving for the joiners in a couple of minutes (wearing an old SAPSASA soccer top.....its the right colours, it'll do until I can get an official kit) ......made the trip from Melbourne especially for this! I have waited for a Perth Glory style team in Adelaide for so long it almost hurts!
The Stand is going to be loud and louder! Sing your hearts out for the lads!

Wow!
How good was that?!?
15,600 (but I reckon there were more than that - 18k my guess)
The atmosphere was rocking, and the singing and the chanting was what football is all about. There wouldn't have been to many people leaving unhappy last night, except maybe the reported 3000 turned away at the gates. The rest of my comments are on the Soccer board, I'm just to hoarse and knackered to repeat them here.
United!! United!! United!!

My first ever soccer match and I was not disappointed.
The United cheer squad were a lot like Centrals supporters... loud and just did not stop chanting! :D :D :D
