I have a very strong feeling the 1st deal announced will be Ben Holland to Melbourne.
Richmond want pick 20, they'll probably not get it, but more likely a player and pick 52..
Could be done as early as today!

Melbourne is “optimistic” Richmond key position player Ben Holland will be officially be a Demon by the end of trading week.
The Demons met with the Tigers on the opening day of trading week at Optus Oval on Monday with the future of Holland discussed after Richmond told the 26-year-old he would be traded.
And Melbourne is keen to secure Holland, who has played 125 games and is capable of playing in either a key defensive or key forward position.
The Demons see Holland as a player capable of helping to ease their lack of height in defence – one of the key reasons behind the club’s slide to 14th position this season.
The Tigers are likely to receive a draft pick in exchange for Holland but the stumbling block at the moment is whether that will be the Demons’ second round pick (selection 20) or fourth round pick (pick 52).
Melbourne football operations manager Danny Corcoran said the club was considering using its third round selection (pick 36) to pick up Chris Johnson, the son of 1980’s star Alan, as a father and son selection.
Under AFL rules any father/son selection must be taken with a club’s third round selection, leaving the Demons to decide whether to use their second or fourth round pick to secure Holland.
The Tigers are unlikely to settle for a fourth round pick in exchange for the strong-marking Holland, who starred in 2001, but has struggled with injury since then.
“We are talking about him (Holland) but it (a trade) is not done until it’s done,” Corcoran said on Monday. “Ben wants to come to Melbourne and Richmond would be happy with pick 20 but we are not sure if we want to give it (pick 20) up.”
“We probably think pick 20 is a pretty good pick still.”
Corcoran said any deal could involve a combination of picks being exchanged between the clubs while the Tigers are also likely to have to pay some of Holland’s estimated current contract of $350,000, if he joins the Demons next season.
Richmond has previously come to a similar arrangement when Nick Daffy went to Sydney and when David Bourke was traded with the Kangaroos.
However while the exact details still have to be worked out, Corcoran said he was confident Holland would be in Melbourne colours by the end of the week.
“We are optimistic we can do a deal,” he said.
Pick 20.............fingers crossed

Pick 20 would be great. I dont think any Richmond supporters would disagree with me.

But all Melbourne supporters would. Pick #52 and Paul Wheatley sounds fair to me.
Pick #20 is too much.

well give you pick 24 with Heath Black for Jeff White, you can use that.
Then on trade Black in a deal with Freo for Croad, then you can have 2 clubs paying your players salaries :)

didn't think you could ontrade players
If they trade pick 20 for Holland, I'll burn down the MCG!
Pick 52 and Wheatley
OR
Pick 52 and Walsh
OR
Pick 52 and Lamb
Take your pick of these, because you are not (better not be!) getting pick 20.

In exchange for a second round draft pick that "could" eventuate to a player of some worth (could) you'd be receiving a key position player that can play both ends of the ground for 250k, how is that a poor trade ? Melbourne will give up pick 20 for Holland because hes a regular senior player and they just don't come along very often.

Melbourne shouldn't trade pick 20 for Holland because:
1. Pick 20 is very close to being a first rd pick. The players likely to be picked b/w 10 and 20 are supposed to be very even so it is a very valuable pick.
2. Holland had a knee reco last year. We don't really know what we are getting
3. He wasn't even that good before he did his knee.
4. Richmond have come out and said they are DESPERATE to get rid of him. Why should we offer the tigers a good deal? If they really need to trade him they will take one of those offers I have already said (pick 52 and Wheatley/Lamb/Walsh).
5. They should be able to get them for one of those deals. They are all good/average players and would get a game for you. Wheatley has an awesome kick, is young (probably best of the three) and a change of scenery would probably be good for him. Many Dees supporters were very angry when Lamb didn't get a game early this year. He does the job and does it well. No heroics. Richmond may want him b/c of Gaspar doing his knee. Walsh is an attacking backman, suspect disposal but is fast and definately knows how to attack.
5. He is very overpayed.

Close too but NOT a first round pick = just a second round pick. Even so Holland is a useful and seasoned KPP who can down back or up forward. Still only 26 so has a number of years of service to offer.

Played in Richmond's last 10 games. Kicked kicked 6 at FF against the dogs after returning from the knee. After a full preseason he will do well at Melbourne.
3. He wasn't even that good before he did his knee.
Agree before 2001. Although he wasn't dreadful was played up forward where he failed to impose himself on matches.
However in 2001 was moved to CHB and thrived and he was one of the main reasons we made the finals that year. Started of 2002 in similar good form until doing his knee at Subiaco Oval against Freo in round 4.

Melbourne are DESPERATE for KP backman. Pick 52 is a nothing pick. Walsh and Wheatley aren't KPPs and Lamb couldn't get a game in a side that finished with only 5 wins for the year.
5. He is very overpayed.
Agree but we going to to pay allegedly 1/3 of his salary. A pretty good KPP for $260,000 (dees payment) is good value as KPPs are hard to find as Melbourne know all to well.
Pick 20 at the very least! Even then IMO we are getting dudded given that last year nearly all KPP were worth a first round pick.
All valid arguments but I suppose we will see.
How do you rate Dragacevic (sp?) out of interest?

#23 + Black is paying over the odds for White.
#39 + Black will net us Croad.
