As a Carlton supporter it is getting bloody annoying all the trade rumours involving us.. Lets face it we have 1 draft pick before the 30's in the draft (which we wont trade), have an aging list and the youngsters which we have are of no class. How can people post bulls*** rumours like carlton after lappin, stevens, bolton, jacobs, motlop etc. WE HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER! Campo has been shocking coz he gets all the attention by opposition, as we have no1 else.. if we were to chase a stevens we would need campo there or the same problem would occur and carlton know that....

truth hurts. carlton will have a hard time enticing players to the club, and even if they do achieve that it will be hard to offer something of value to the opposing club.

Next year I suspect will be a brighter trade peroid for Carlton (after another dismal year on the field, I'm afraid)

There's always the preseason draft I suppose.

Carlton are the only side that I think should consider trading their early draft pick.

Let's face it. One 18 year old isn't going to make a pinch of difference. You would be better off finding a club with a couple of young mid-rangers, trading your #2 for them and letting Pagan develop them.

I normally disagree with this line totally. But from Carlton's point of view, they simply have nothing... and I mean nothing (except a surprise win over Essendon AGAIN!!!) to build on.

Why wouldn't you try and trade #2 for Solomon (23), Jacobs(23), McGrath (24), Forster-Knight (21), Hall(23ish??). OK, so a Solly and Jacobs are average... Mcgrath would be borderline, Forster-Knight and Hall just to add some depth while you need it. Essendon supporters might scream, but I think EFC want a top pick very badly.

(Let's face it, in the next couple of years you blokes will have plenty more opportunities at the best blokes in the draft)

.... awaits abuse .....

Roguebomber,
Wouldn't think you would invite much abuse. Quite a reasonable post. You could argue that we need so many players that a handful of decent league footballers would be of more value than one potential gun, but you only have to look at the deal that got Matthew Lloyd to Essendon to see that one top-liner can be far more value.
There is also enormous pressure on the Carlton hierarchy from Blues supporters to show that it has learned from its mistakes - and to pick up a top young kid, unless the offer from another club is too good to pass up. Hopefully this kid will be one major part in the jigsaw puzzle as the club starts the slow rebuilding process.

Carltons only trade will most likely be Allan, He has requested to move on, the club has agreed (last i heard), So all is not lost at Carlton, You wont get much for Allan but atleast you will have something to talk about after the trade period :)

i guess thats why port are talking to collingwood about nick stevens now, not collingwood asking them. we will get stevens, but it wont be for didak.

If CHOCO gets his way, he'll have half the pies senior playing list in exchange for Stevens + your first rnd draft pick :D
