Only squad named, my probable lineup is:

Fitzgerald
Deitz
Blewett
Flower
Davies
Higgs
Miller
Manou
Davison
Rofe
Tait

12th Man: Cleary

Surprised Cosgrove didn't make it, 2nd XI form was good, i'd have him in there at 5 ahead of Fitzy with Blewett to open and Davies at 3

Meanwhile QAS bowled out for 139, Philipson (52) only player past 50, Bracken 3/33 from 14, Bolinger 3/26 from 8

You would have to play Clearly in Perth in my view.

Either Miller or Davies could miss out.

Interesting that Cosgrove and Young missed out

Miller has been ordinary in my view and they should be playing the youngsters.

Am also surprised Cosgrove missed out, the guy's gonna be a gun.

There any spinners coming through? Or will we have to send out an SOS call to Peter McIntyre.

Manou Interesting that Manou still gets the keeping duties when there are two other batsmen who can keep. It's good to see the selectors have re-gained some faith in Manou.

But can they please stop picking that plodder Deitz? He's rubbish. Get Ben Johnson or Jeff Vaughan to open. At least those guys ocassionally bat with an attacking frame of mind.

I'm pretty sure that Flower was asked about keeping before he came over here but said he'd prefer not to. I could be wrong though.

Flower kept for Sturt in a recent grade match, but apparently the regular keeper wasn't playing.

suprised Cosgrove didn't get in first up but don't expect him to be out for to long - na absolute gun.

I think you have been in Sydney too long Dave

Vaughan is the biggest dud ever to play for the Redbacks I reckon. A shocker.

Chris Davies has had a very poor career to date as well.

Johnson is a good palyer though and I agree its intresting they have three keepers in the squad

Will be interesting to see who the 12th man is.

I don't care who plays, I just want to see some more heart and fight from the Redbacks this season. Last season it seemed like many of the players were just going through the motions. I think Wayne Phillips has been making the right noises motivation wise and hopefully Andy Flower's arrival can be the spark for a good season. We must be looking to make at least one of the finals, hopefully our lower table obscurity is coming to an end.

I think the fact they have picked 2 keepers + Flower as well as the recycled hacks in Johnson, Davies and Vaughan is a reflection of the depth (or lack of) in SA cricket.

They seem to have a couple of good young quicks, now need to unearth a couple of good young batsmen

Cosgrove and Calum Ferguson are the likely candiates

Both under age Australian players, and both made runs in the recent second eleven games. I guess they don't want to rush them but they both will get a go before the end of the season I am sure.

With Tait Kelly Cleary Rofe and Cullen in the bowling department and with Feguson and Cosgrove in the batting there certainly appears to be plenty of positives in the future for SA.

It doesn't seem that long ago (although it was two years ago now) that I was watching South Australia at the SCG in their second innings, with the match already hopelessly lost, and Vaughan and Higgins were the only the batsmen to show a bit of ticker.

Both have now fallen out of favour.

Deitz is too much of a plodder. I cringe every time I see his name on a South Australian scorecard.

Where are they then ?????? Lets get them in there NOW not when the season is over, which will be pretty soon if we keep picking Johnson, Vaughan, Davies, Deitz. They are our future.

Higgs is the key to any Redback glory, Phillips has plenty of time for young Ray, hopefully Blewett will give him more of a bowl in the Shield games
