Apparently Kevin Sheedy was "insulted" by the offer.
Can't say i blame him.

Unless Hall was coming with pick #6, then so he should be.

I couldn't blame him either.
What next? Houlihan for Lloyd and their first round pick?
I guess using the 'Richmond Theory' we should be paying Ray Hall $400,000 a season as well?

It appears Richmond are playing up the 'trade with us or he'll walk' line in regards to Solomon.
Either they're bluffing, or have a solid commitment from him.
If it is the second option, than i suggest Sheedy would prefer he leave for nothing than get done over in such a one-sided trade.

Ha ha that is the funniest trade I have read in a long time! Ray Hall, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, a true Richmond champ in every sense!

I heard it a few hours back, however an ABC sports journo has just been on the radio and has confirmed everything i have posted.
Clearly stated that Richmond put in the offer, and Sheedy rejected, whilst getting rather upset.

Essendon are actually a pretty good club to work out a trade with, they are "fairly" reasonable and don't hold clubs to ransom, saying that if this is true....well its pretty funny!

So Sheedy should be, that's a joke of a trade.
Surely they'd (Essendon) prefer our handsome offer of Peter Street and a second round ;)
Peter Street is expandable though.... David Clarke would make an adequate replacement.
Hall of solomon? What a joke! Hall isnt even good enough to wipe solomans ass.
Great, another non-established key position player to throw on the heap. We're getting RID of talls, why the hell would we want another, one who hasn't really done all that much as well. :p
Start talking first round pick Richmond, there's plenty of shoppers in the Dean Solomon supermarket, so lets see what gets put on the table, he's not on special. If you're going to pay him 400k a year, offer a trade of similar value in either picks or players.
I'm sure Solly would look good in a Geelong, Hawthorn or Melbourne jersey, of course, I like him best of all in the red and black, but I give that about 5% chance of happening.

Exactly. If they think Solomon is worth $400k a year, we should get at least their first round pick. Richmond supporters may disagree, but this is the way your football club is behaving!
Go and get ****ed Richmond.
You are scum, you are pathetic, you are poachers and you are an absolute ****ing disgrace.
I'd rather not get anything. Put him into the draft.
Send him anywhere but Richmond Sheeds.
bozza, you have an anger management problem!;)

During last year's trade period Essendon offered 2 players for Ray Hall.

He showed a lot more last year. He really didn't do anything this year. I can't recall what we offered for him.

If we are offering Solly 400k a year over four I'd rather we miss out on him and he goes somewhere else, no way he is worth 400k a season.
I am suprised that Bomber fans expect so much for him last week they were calling him undisciplined and the clanger king.
He is undisciplined, he is the clanger king, but there's probably 6 clubs seriously making a play for him, so that alone means he has trade value. Dean Solomon on the open market right now is worth a whole lot more to Essendon in trade value than Ray Hall, and just like Nick Stevens and Jade Rawlings, if he is traded, it will probably be for more than he is worth, due to the simple fact that there is so much interest.
Solomon wasn't so undisciplined or as prone to skill errors in 2000. Perhaps his injuries have frustrated him.

Whats an assessment of Hall. What positions did he pay this year, and can he ruck? size etc?

He's a backup ruckman who can pinch hit in a key post. Athletic fellow, but is a battler. Did some good things last year but failed to come on this year.

Can pinch in the ruck only fairly short bursts could never make it as a number 1 ruckmen. Key defender is probably his best position but on the real tall forwards his best game this year was probably in our loss against Carlton, did a job on McKernan that probably doesn't say much though. Was also reasonable in the early part of the year when we were winning a few games.
Missed most of the second half of the year with an injury - can't remember what is was exactly groin or quad I think.
Has shown glimpses of becoming a reasonable player but has never quite made it. Only really been one game when he has had a major influence on a game and that was against Carlton in the semi-final in 2001.

Now I'm curious. If one is too young to remember something, why does that then make them a moron?

Hmm well from the article at Afl.com.au Kevin Sheedy seems ****ed.. I would have thought tigers would have tried to keep a more stable relationship with Sheeds seeing as they would probably eventually want him as there coach...
Sheeds seems pretty confident of keeping Solomon surprisingly.. We have offered him $300,000 a year yesterday and sheeds has spoken to Solomon AND his Parents (dunno why) this morning..

Then why arent u????
I cant believe you idiots are taking this goose seriously, he is a senile old man, and really his comments make me laugh...he tries to play mind games far too much, this time no ones gonna bite.

Good luck to Sheeds. He's playing another of his games, but if it works, I say well done. His priority is to keep Dean Solomon. I take heart that the deal is just about done if he has to discredit the club that gave him a start in football.

A goose with 4 more flags than your mob in the last 20 years.
With offers like that dont expect solomon to be wearing a yellow and black guernsey next year. It was never going to happen anyway. Sheeds hates miller and i dont blame him. Richmond will have to come up with the deal of the century for sheeds to ok a trade to the tigers.
when teams wanna trade they have more than 1 trade incase the team doesnt accept the trade. like sheedy sayin no for solomon
tigers will have a few more possible trades bit they go with the worst first
they wil try and get the best possible for them

I think somebody overrates Solomon just a tad..
Really - he isnt that good. Maybe Ray Hall isnt the exact type to be a 'fair trade' but I dont think we are too far off. The team (even Richmond) who gives up a pick under 10 would have to be pretty stupid IMO.
Stupid like offering 1.6 mill over 4 years for an overated half back flanker

I agree... why would you offer 1.6 MILLION dollars over 4 just to get a half back flanker who can be found off the street. Anyone can play half back flank.. even Kayne Pettifer!!
well.. maybe not Kane Pettifer but still!
good luck to him...god knows i would take the 400 thou a year. doesnt mean i have to like it though

Let's hope this deal (and the Nathan Brown deal) fall through. Richmond should be keeping their early draft picks and select a young gun that is going to be at the club for the next 10-12 years. Let's not throuw these ridiculous sums of money at these 'good ordinary players' like Soloman & Brown. Enough already!!:(

Ray Hall for Dean Solomon is not "too far off"? Lay off the crackpipe.
A proven regular senior player, a premiership player, a player with genuine physical presence; a lanky but athletic tall who can't get a regular senior game and is being offered for trade because he's jetsam.
Yeah, that's not too far off. Lay off the crackpipe.

Ray Hall for Solly? Ray Hall isn't worth jack. I wouldn't even trade him for Ken Hall?
