View Full Version : Jason Gram to Essendon?
Read in The Age that Jason is apparently keen to head back to Victoria to get more opportunity. It's the kind of situation Sheeds takes note of, so we might look at picking him up. What would you want in return?

Third round pick.
How about we give you Gram, and in exchange you take Caracella as well?
I don't understand people's inane dislike of Caracella. He's a very talented and skillful player, who had a reasonably good season in his first year with the Lions. He played a meaningful role in a number of games, and I reckon there is more improvement in him still.

I have got to agree with u there – the anti caracella threads amaze and disappoint me at the same time
He did have a poor start but that was to be expected with someone moving in from interstate and has had a great second half of the season.
He will be good for us next year and we should not trade him IMHO
Could one of you knowledgeable Lions tell me something about Gram? I must admit that apart from having heard the name a few times, I haven't got the foggiest who he is, and if he's going to be the next Sheedy 'project', then i'd like to know who he is. :p
Thanks in advance.

Although, we may end up trading that to Carlton for Allan.
We'll see how things pan out.

thats what i have to do when the women in front of me abuses him every 5 seconds... i expected alot better from all of you.. she is barely human sometimes......
Jason Gram is a victorian boy who is highly talented and has a bright future
he is a mobile half back type who is also highly talented at basketball
in fact it was darren bewick who got in his ear to concentrate on playin for gippsland power u/18s as he had the potential to go all the way
he may need a season or two to develop further, but will be a good player in the future for whoever he plays for

My thoughts on Caracella are still the same. I still don't rate him. He hasn't shown anything this year, inconsistent and not what I expected from him.
We trade him before we trade someone like Gram.
We then develop Gram in that position.

as i said on anotehr thread... i really dont want grammy to go but i would rather have a player who wants to be here rather than a poor shy fella who is feeling a bit homesick

After the way Caracella played in the GF, the least you could do is show the bloke some respect. He had a good second half of the season.

Well, Grammy has been traded to St Kilda for a 2nd round pick and I for one think Brisbane has been majorly ripped off. 1st round pick... maybe, but he was probably a 2nd round pick when he was drafted, and he's a far better player than that. Saints would be creaming themselves - he would have been a regular midfielder/half back flanker at the Lions next year.

Ha. Obviously the clubs do not read bigfooty. Second round pick it is. rchowell thinks you've got a good deal, I think a second round pick will be more valuable. We'll see who right.

Recently discovered Big Footy and have been ghosting for a while. However the trading of Jason Gram has prompted me to voice my dissatisfaction with this action by the club.
It appears that the club has not made an effort to dissuade Jason from leaving the Lions.
I believe this trade, we will regret in latter years. Jason is a talented 19 years old with enormous potential if given the opportunity. If Caracella was not recruited, Jason may have played a few more games this year.
I understand that salary constraints has necessitated actions such as trading Jason, hawking Notting to other clubs for a trade and reducing the salaries of the senior players on the list. This has had an impact on us retaining Power, Michael, Lappin and Bradshaw. The only remaining housekeeping now is to get Pike and Copeland to put pen to paper. Lynch is gone. (I have no sympathy for Lynch but that’s another story)
Getting rid of talented young 19 years olds before making a genuine assessment of their abilities under intensely competitive match conditions is fraught with danger.
We may be getting rid of Gram but the regret will be measured in kilos in few years time.

Hope someone's told Essendon that Grammy might be playing for the saints next season. :D
Anyway you never know, he may not be the only Jason that might be leaving to play at another club next season.
