Macpie has been banned from posting on the Essendon board, for an indefinite amount of time.
As everyone should know, there are clear rules here stating that when you post on an opposition club's forum, you must show respect towards that club. I sincerely hope everyone will keep that in mind whenever they venture over onto our opposition forums and fly the flag.
I suppose it is fairly obvious to everyone here that Macpie has done nothing of the sort. He has become a serial thread hijacker on this forum and I just don't have the time or patience anymore to clean up after him. I'm sure a lot of you enjoyed giving him back what he gave, but I felt it was time for the fun to end.
If you strongly agree or disagree with this decision, please make your feelings known.

Great stuff. Good to see the filth erradicated.
Zaccy has an Essendon fixation problem, as would be evident by his efforts for a number of weeks.
I'm glad he isn't now welcome on here, but, should he make such outlandish comments on the main forum, I won't be hesitating to have a go back at his club's efforts either.

Any chance we can kick out some of the irate Bomber supporters from the Richmond Forum? :D

I signed up with Bigfooty yesterday just so I could congratulate you on banning that peice of scum filth. I have always wanted to write a thread on how much of a fag he was but I couldn't be bothered. In the past he has made his way to BomberBlitz as well as EssendonFC. Biggest troller I know.

Is anyone actually forcing you to read the guy's posts??
I always thought the internet was the last bastion of free speech but its seems neo nazi conservatives exist every where.
Reminds me of parking inspectors who let their modicum of power go to their heads.
Having said this, I will probably get booted too

Did anyone force you to read that?
I might start throwing marshmallows around in here at you guys North Melbourne style.
SOFT AS!!!!
You do realise that this is a victory for macpie don't you? It's probably Eddie you know. mac(guire)pie.
Seriously you guys give as good as you get.
But, it's your board I suppose, though these internet forums are only fun cos of trollers. It's what makes it different. If I want general footy news I can go to the AFL site.

Aww, but his posts were funny! :p Meh, that's what the AFL board is for. Good riddance.
Good decision. No need for any low-life Collingwood scum to come in and interrupt things. Good to see he wont be posting here again.

It isn't like he's banned from the whole site. Just here.
I know people liked having a go at him (and I enjoyed watching it), but I felt like the whole point of this board was being lost in a sea of Macpie vs. the Essendon BigFooty contingent.
I put up with him for awhile, but when it got to the point where he has to hijack almost every single thread is when the line needed to be drawn, I think.
There are always plenty of Essendon-Collingwood urinating contests going on at anytime on the main AFL forum. If you like that sort of thing, fine, but I didn't want all of that carrying over to this board.
It appears that most of the readers agree with me. If they didn't, I'd probably lift the ban. Which is part of why I did it in the first place, because a few people asked me to.

When he posts in nearly every single thread, it becomes pretty hard not to. Which is the main reason why I felt like I had to do this.

I figured one person would say something like this.
Look, it's only this particular forum. He still posts on the AFL board and everywhere else. There are plenty of places around to take his bait.
There are clear cut rules for BigFooty which state that the individual team boards are not for trolling. They are for team supporters, and that opposition supporters are to show respect for the club whenever they post in that forum. Those who sign up with BigFooty agree to those rules when they join up.
Opposition posters are always going to be welcome here, providing they respect us. They don't have to like us. I don't expect every opposing fan to come in here to kiss our ass.
Serial trolling is not respect in my opinion.
It isn't like Macpie didn't have any warning. I asked him if he wouldn't mind keeping his crap on the main board. He sooked a bit about having some posts removed, but that was about it.
Very very soft.
So what, he's a troll. Don't take him seriously.
I'd rather he still be allowed to post. Sure, he posted some silly things. But banning him means that we are taking him seriously, which is precisely what we shouldn't be doing!
He didn't flood the forum or post anything offensive.
Very very soft.

Why's that? Stealth, I don't think anyone doubts your ability. But I think banning Macpie is rather unfair.
This is an internet forum and the rights of the posters are dictated to by the owner of the website. Thus, normal free speech rights do not apply. You are well within your rights to ban Macpie, and if you and the majority of this forum believe that it is for the benefit for this forum, then so be it.
My opinion is that the times someone should be banned is when they flood the forum, or post offensive material. Macpie did neither, so I don't have a problem with him. He baits us, some people bite. It's no more than a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, and it's certainly not something people should get worked up about.

Stealth did this in the interest of all Essendon fans on the Essendon board. That's more than good enough for me.

Stevo;
I felt that it may have been getting a bit out of control. It seemed like he got involved in just about every thread and it would almost always start getting dragged off-topic.
So I felt like the quality of the forum was being severely affected by his presence, even if he didn't post anything vulgar - but the responses often did, and I'd have to clean it up.
And the workload was becoming too much. I found myself splitting threads just about every time I logged on, no matter what time of day it was. Macpie would be posting stuff at 4 and 5 in the morning.
And again, there's plenty of Macpie's bait to go around on the main forum. I guess I figured that would be enough for those who liked giving it back to him.
There is sort of an unwritten rule in the mod circles that anything goes on the main AFL forum as far as trolling goes (provided it doesn't get offensive) but the team boards are a bit more restrictive in that area.
I've been trying to get a second person for awhile, because I believe government by committee is usually better than government by monarchical dictatorship but for whatever reason Adrian hasn't got around to it yet.
Anyway, everyone here is entitled to their opinion, and I knew when I did this that I probably wouldn't have pleased everyone. But I'm glad people have spoken out, anyway. I don't know what kind of job I'm doing without the feedback.
As for the Macpie issue, maybe I will reconsider his ban if there is enough demand for it. Should I put it to a poll?

Good decision to ban him from here.
Sure, everyone has their bit of fun and bags teams from time to time ...
But that ****er is seriously has an Essendon-obsession problem, every thread or post he puts on the Net (not just on the Bomber board, bigfooty, Newsgroups, bomberblitz) it all revolves around Essendon and what they are doing wrong and how pathetic they are. He seriously has some issues - and I'm not joking ... he needs help, his obsession is unhealthy :p
I hate Collingwood too, but not everything I post on footy forums is about them and their failure.
He talks about the Dons 95% of the time, and about other things about 5% - and that's no exaggeration.
I agree with the ban. Like you said he can still bag ess if he wants on the main board. Was ****ing a lot of people off from what I could gather and certainly got a kick out of it.... Lack of respect definitely.

ignore him, and he will go away.
banning him, and replying to his trolls on the main board keeps him going.

Stealth, that's good enough for me. Thanks.
I knew Essendon were soft but this is ridiculous.
You guys in your three years at the top have as a result, a generation of supporters that can't handle trolling now that your team is losing a bit more.
Has he ever written anything that was personally offensive to anybody or distasteful? Most of the stuff I read of his was pretty funny!

On another note, could everyone lighten up on the Richmond board for awhile?
I had no idea there was so much going on over there.

Collingwood can hardly talk,
you go onto Nick's page and your automatically banned if you post anything as an opposition supporter.
We don't mind criticism at all - but it's just continuous with Macpie and the only reason he does it is to **** people off and be a little smart arse.
