I can tell you now, I hope he STAYS at Essendon (or wherever the hell else he ends up).
All it means is that Richmond's stirring has caused angst and crabbiness at Essendon and more than likely they have had to shell out more dosh or extend his contract.
They didn't want to do it, but we've helped twist their arm.
And that is good. Hopefully now we can draft some good young kids and over time weed out a lot of the below-par players and staff that have been holding us back for so long.
Bring on the kiddies, I say!

Soloman will be thanking Richmond for putting an extra 80K a year on his salary.
Who is the real loser here, Richmopnd who lose nothing or EssenDUM who end up having to get rid of more players to keep Solomon?

I would have thought the fact that the Tigers offered Solomon more than Essendon kinda suggests that they respect his talents at least as much as his current club.
And if Solomon is prepared to "SNUB" any rival club who - shock! horror! - display some interest in attracting his talents to their club, and actually want to pay him more for the honour, then maybe it's Solomon himself who lacks respect ...
One things for certain, however. If the holier-than-thou Bombers ever EVER wish to attract a rival player by offering him a more lucrative contract than that which he is presently on, then the label "hypocrites" will not be out of place ....
but Ghost I think we all missed the point of his post he was just dying to say " I know him " .....but he doesn't know we have a term for people like that ." Starf#@kers"...........
I got that from Richo ................
That means I know him .....................
are you impressed ?????.................
well I met him once ...........................
well I saw him on the telly ..but i could have sworn he was looking straight at me !!.....true-dinks !!!!.......

Dont think we lose anything at all here, we get to keep a required player at the club, we didn't want to shovel him off to anyone, i think richmond are the real losers they were actually quite close to getting a player that actually has a crack when on the field unlike your dress wearing current players

No, it just proves how stupid Miller is. Solomon is not worth $400k and he knows it. More importantly, he has chosen to stay at Essendon for $100K less which shows how little he respects Richmond!
Face it - you are a rabble - a reflection of your neurotic hypersensitive coach

Hey Rodan you gnat - you may have to rethink your name as he will be tossed into the mix to nab Brown.
Is there any dignity at your club whatsoever?
You would have thought being perennial losers would teach you eat humble pie.

It's weird. My Grandfather was a mad Richmond supporter through the depression, right up until his death in 1990. I'm talking MAD!!
My old man was a Richmond supporter growing up in Essendon. All his mates barracked for the Bombers so he changed teams when he was 15. Peer group pressure's a biatch!
Needless to say I too am a Bomber supporter.
Both of them taught me a healthy respect for all clubs (except Carlton), especially Richmond, whilst growing up.
Even when the Bombers lost the 2001 GF to Brisbane and I was waiting for the train at Richmond station and a Tiger supporter told me to suck **** I looked past it.
I don't blame Richmond for trying to get Solly, but I'm glad they didn't. I hope they find someone like him one day.
Until then...GO BOMBERS!!

This is good news. Richmond looked like entering the draft in the 4th round. The danger is that the club's traders become too desperate to get Brown, just to be seen to do one deal, and give too much. If they can get him for a reasonable cost then OK, but I'd rather the club went into the draft than pay over the odds.
Finally, an Essendon supporter who hasn't yet lost his humanity!

The best news I've heard all day!
Mind you, I worked nightshift last night and only just got out of bed, but you know what I mean. ;)
Now, lets draft some kiddies. We've rankled and rumpled Essendon. Caused dissent and anger amongst their supporters towards Solomon...all for the cost of a ticket to London.
Good, good stuff indeed!
I am a poster on Bombertalk and we had quite a few Richmond persons go on our board and REALLY stick it up us... i mean *REALLY*. It wasnt appreciated.
It's unfortunate... all **** trade bullsh1t. I think it spoils the game... :(
WE LOVE YOU COZ YOURE A VICTORIAN!

Wow, it's amazing how even the supporters were in on this as not once during the past week did any of you say anything about how it would be good if he stayed and ruffled a few bomber feathers. That is until now that you won't be getting him.
I think you got to ask yourself if it was worth causing discontent amongst your own players just to get one out of 14 opponents "rankled".

Rubbish.
Plenty of Richmond supporters (I'm wasn't one of them) didn't want Solomon, on the grounds he was too expensive, likely to break down again (problem for a player on a 4 year contract) and couldn't playe enough midfield.
I wanted him to come, but am happy we don't lose draft picks on this one.
Simply- nothing ventured, nothing gained. No harm done.
Good luck at the bombers Dean, I reckon you can play. Go have a look at the bombers forum and you will see what your own supporters think of your ability.

I appreciate your unbiased opinion.
The Essendon forum did not turn anti-solly. They were just p1ssed bigtime because he had said he turned down Essendon offer to stay on and it appeared that he had done it because there was big money coming in on a Black n Yellow Cheque book.
Perhaps the media has something to play for this one. On the information that the Essendon fans were given, would you have expected them to act any differently?
I was one who DID NOT jump up and down and thought it best to wait it out.
Unfortunately this whole Silly Solly situation simply sucks. I don't like all this trade crap... it spoils the game. Solly has stayed with the Dons for reasons "apparently" of loyalty. It could also be said that he has stayed with the Dons as Essendon could not meet negotiation with Richmond on trading. Honestly, putting up Hall for Solly is a tad ridiculous. Either way, it's over and 2004 awaits for both proud and passionate teams.
Let's not hate each other, let's hate Collingwood, Carlton and the interstaters!!!!!!!!
Andrew.

I never said no one said you didn't want him because of the money. I said no one said that they were willing to throw this money at him just to cause Essendon disruption and they didn't care whether they didn't get him.
