I thought i heard on the ch.10 news that Jarrod Mc Veigh will join the bombers not the other way around. Did anyone else watch that because i wasnt really listening but i thought thats what they said.

That is exactly what was said. Firstly, they stated that Mark had re-signed, which i think is fantastic as he had a pretty solid year this year. Then, in the next breath, they stated that Essendon was seeking to lure his brother from Sydney. Don't know how good he is though. Anyone else know?
Although there seems to be so much speculation floating around at the moment, how much weight can you really give what the media puts out there....

Went very early in the drafy he was in - like his brother. Bit bigger player - will have to offer something decent to get him as the swans picked him up so early.

Aren't first round draftees on a minimum two year contract? Jarrad is untouchable until this time next year...
He was picked up at #5 in last year's draft. Sydney won't let him go for peanuts.

Exactly right. Doubt we'd give enough to get him, would cost a pick of equal value or a bloody good player.
Not two ****ing Ewoks!!!
Actaully ... Jarrod is more akin to Sideshow Bob!

If that happened I would laugh my fcking head off for at least 3 months straight..
Not because I really want ewok2 (although he is supposed to be better than his brother, and the sydney people with a clue, yes all 3 of them, have been pulling themselves silly over him), but imagine the outcry in old sydneytown.
"We need a higher retention rate" they would squeal.
"But hes' FROM sydney, and WANTS to leave" we would counter.
"Oh well, we should still get a better allowance to ensure this sort of thing never happens again"
lol.
welcome aboard ewok2 ('return to endor' perhaps?)
:D

Saw a picture of him last year and he's the thinnest bloke i've ever seen. Surely food must be in the contract.

Yeah would be intresting to see what happens with 'Sideshow McVeigh' ;) If that's the case with Sydney then it would be hard to get a contract with him,Mark is great, can play some bloody good footy, and it is good to hear that he has resigned with the Dons :D

you can't be traded mid contract?

He's shaved his hair recently. If Essendon want him then they're going to have to offer something equivalent to last year's pick #5. From what I've seen briefly, McVeigh knows how to find the ball and is a good kick, the only minus being his frame is still too light to take up a regular place in the midfield. Needs time to build up his strength.

I thought there was a special rule for first year players...
please correct me if I'm wrong
Would be a waste of time drafting the rookie if you are going to trade him 1 yr after drafting him. But apparantly u can trade the player even tho he's only 1yr into the AFL. It's happened before
