Dreadful news:

Eric Clapton when asked by Mojo Magazine (September 2000 issue) "Which musician (other than yourself) have you ever wanted to be?" answered "I don't model myself on him but I like J.J. Cale, his philosophy, writing skills, musicianship. He's a fine, superior musician, one of the masters of the last three decades of music. He doesn't make records now, because he doesn't like the music scene, doesn't want any part of it, so he kind of retired in protest. I understand a lot about that. "

FÛCK!

Sad if its true but I can kinda understand his sentiments.

Its not that easy for a guy like JJC to stay outta music though. I mean its not like a tap that you can turn on and turn off at will is it ?

My guess is that JJC is still as prolific and creative as he always has been. Its just he does not want to be a 'Rock Star' anymore.

... and who can blame him ?

cheers
