Guys...

Easily worth the money, travel and time I invested in travelling from Griffith to Canberra (4hrs) to catch his Poodle Hat tour.

Like I've said in earlier posts, I'm a real Weird Al fan and have been for years. The first Weird Al track I caught was "Like A Surgeon" back in the early 80's...Fell in love with his music and his satirical stylings from an early age...

As a comical warm up; Announced as Weird Al's favourite Aussie comedian: George "I'm Tuff" Smilovici (However you spell it...) Quite good, hasn't lost his touch, Drew jeers of..."How tough are ya???!!!??? from the crowd...

By showtime, Al eventually started at 8:45pm, The Canberra Theatre...I'm not sure of it's capacity number-wise but it was at about 85%...

He opened with Two huge screens, Playing and singing Angry White Boy Polka from his new Poodle Hat album, the show had all his classics and wardrobe changes, (Which the band also undertook too) a medley of movie song parodies, Al topped thenight off with The Saga Continues...His Star Wars Episode 1 American Pie tune...

It was a great show allround...Great stuff well worth the journey!!!

After the show, A few gathered at a backstage door, The group started near 20, but as the night grew colder those numbers dwindled back to about 8 or so...Eventually, My fiancee and I with a few others, after an hour in the cold, Were granted access to meet Weird Al...He was happy to speak to us all for a few minutes each, and sign anything we'd brought with us...

My question..."Have you caught any Aussie Rules Footy?" To which he replied "I've only seen that mad game on TV...Gonna write something about that game though, Those guys are tough!"

He was a a great bloke to have a quick chat to, and he already looks forward to getting back to Australia...

I think he likes you.

Very disappointed I didn't get to see him. It was either him or J5.
