Now that thankfully we won't be paying out $$$ and a long-term contract for Solomon,
it's been mentioned in the press today that we have offered our first two picks 6 & 21 for Brown on a similar contract . Hopefully this deal falls through as well for our long-term sake and we are forced to draft and develop our own as we should be doing.

whilst i agree in part with your comments mighty tiges, brown is a quality player who we could use, unlike soloman. Get brown for sure, then stock up on picks

It don't bother me if we got Soloman or not ,as long as we boost playing stocks...& get good players...Ya can't have a go at Miller for going & doing his job , a few more at the club should take notice.....:) :D

Im a Bomber. Solly IS fantastic player btw.

Now,... I agree with you that Richmond REALLY needs to be recruiting younger players from the draft as opposed to throwing money at pre-made players.

I dont understand what the problem is at Richmond. With ALL respect, the club is in strife. The retruitment officers and talent scouts should basically be shot... as you havent really done anything in the last how many years... excepting probably Rodan who is a gun!

Frawley is a joke. Sorry, but he is.... and I mean that in all fairness. He needs to look at reality and look past his own personal ego. Richmond needs direction, they need talent and most of all... they need reality. People like Frawley have taken a passionate melbourne based club and promised everything but delivered nothing. He's shown you slides of what could be but never actually done it.

For Richmond to get back on top, and you will..... you need a coach. Even someone like Terry Wallace would do.

I have the feeling that the players, match committee and fans patience with Frawley is running thin. I hope like hell that Richmond can get back to being a power club, as Im sick and tired of seeing 6 interstate teams dominating OUR competition.

My comments are not meant to offend, im merely representing my opinion in a constructive way.

Good luck for 2004 Tigerland....

PS: Ottens is a true talent.

MT, i hope the deals fall through too - but what worries me is even Miller's got this mentality now of the quick fix solutions, albeit on the other end of the scale.

I had great hopes in him that he would go down a rebuilding of the club by drafting kids - and trading players to get more earlier picks.

All we've achieved is a lot of angst so far - bring on Friday quick to see what we get.

I think you will find that Miller is looking around the trophy cabinet and cant see much to show. He has been at tigerland how long now?... and what positives has he REALLY provided. Getting kids in the hot seat and waiting for them to come good is not going to keep his job and respect. He needs a couple ready made players in order to make him look good. The time for Miller to be a part of a re-build has passed. I just hope he doesnt take the tiges down with him.

He's only been in the job a year so I can't for the life of me see how you can say his time to rebuild has passed. This trade/draft period would be his first chance to hunt around after analyzing our list. Last year at this time he had just arrived.

I'm not knocking Miller for chasing after good players which Brown and Solomon definitely are (a pleasant change from the past of chasing duds). That's his job. It's just that we shouldn't be offering say two high picks for a 26 year old as we are in no position over the next 2-3 years of challenging for the flag. I should add that this was reported in the press so could be complete cr@p as 99% of reports are at this time of year. Only those directly directly involved really know what is really being offered.

I am against trading our first two draft picks for Brown. A good deal would be our first draft and Ray Hall for Brown. I hope that’s what it comes down to, because we do need some young talent, but we also need to make our side a little stronger so not to many Richmond supporters jump off the band wagon, when we are developing our youth, and say this side is going nowhere.

Can’t we get any better then a second round for Holland, I thought we would be looking for more.

Miller has said all along that he has a three year plan. This is still his first year at the club. He has done some terrific delistings, sured up a lot of money within our salary cap, and is now going to get some ready to play players. His plan next year will be to get the youth. You can't field a team of purely youth. It can have a negative effect. We are short on potential leaders so he has to get some from elsewhere.

This is still all part of the bigger picture.

Ive said this once and Ill say it again...

Brown shouldnt be drafted. If he does, for our first two picks, we will be making a BIG mistake. These kids that we draft are Richmonds future potentially. We could be missing out on two of the best kids around but we might decide that Brown is more important. Pay cuts may even be needed and that doesnt help us out.

Goodwin, Notting, Power, Morrison, Shattock... all from successfull clubs yet we still pick Brown over them. Why the Tiger's board are thinking like this at the moment ill never know.

Dont make a mistake Richmond. This could be the clubs future.. memberships are falling and supporters do get sick of losing eventually.

Um how exactly do you plan to do that? Get Brown THEN stock up on picks?

For you to stock up on picks you need to trade a few of Ottens, Coughlan, Richo & Johnson, and that ain't going to happen.

Richmond are the DUMBEST footy club in the AFL. To make mistakes is human, but to make the same mistake over and over again is just plaing ****ing stupid.
