HILLE AND MCVEIGH SIGN NEW DEALS
Wednesday, 15 October 2003
Essendon ruckman David Hille and defender Mark McVeigh are the two latest Bombers to agree to new deals with the club. Hille has signed a two-year contract while McVeigh has a one-year agreement in place. It has been a big day for the club after Dean Solomon also agreed to a three-year deal, overturning a previous decision to continue his career elsewhere.

Good stuff.
Was getting concerned about Hille taking so long, but glad to see him get a new 2 year contract.
Ewok only get a one year deal, thereby all but guaranteeing his return to Sydney next year to play with his brother one would think..... (they'll both be out of contract together, so that may get interesting!)
Expecting big things from Hille next year.
:)

Bloody fantastic, would've spewed blood if we lost Hille. So who is left (of the senior group) now? Jacobs and Bolton?

McGrath and Harvey are gone
I suspect Joey will take a small incentive based contract
and unfortunately I reckon one, if not both of Bolton and Jacobs will go which I am not a fan of happening.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if McVeigh signed a one year contract because his brother has one year left on his. Next year we may see both McVeighs in the same team. Whether it's Sydney or Essendon...

Just looking at it... i find it hard to see Misiti going. Harvey we wont get anything for so he will prolly be playing for Bendigo next year again. Bolton and Jacobs are the only 2 anybody would care about and i want more than pick 26 for Nuts& thank you.
n e one know how much these two guys have cost us?
i thought aroun 250K but someone said a fair bit more??

Good News.
Hawthorn want Bolton.
Hope we dont lose him. He had just started playing really well for the Dons and is a big part of our team.

What a great day down at BomberLand!!
It seems to me that Essendon supporters are generally split by the whole Bolton thing. Some want him to stay as a decent prospect while others seem to think he is a hack and we should try to get something reasonable in exchange (I assume a pick).
I have absolutely no idea whatsoever!! I never saw him play and don't know his worth. I would appreciate some feedback to clearly define his role and his worth to us (whether staying or going). Any takers?
If we can get a good deal for Bolton, we should trade him. He showed some form in last year's finals series but he hasn't really kicked on this year. He's been at the club for at least half a dozen years now, he was a very high draft pick, he trains the house down. But he still hasn't been able to put it together.
He's been used to stop gaps as a key defender/forward, but he looks very out of place. He's tall, but he's not a key position player. He's a midfielder. The problem now is that we've got a host of young talented midfielders coming through, and Bolton may just hold back their development.
If he stays, I think he's on his last chance.

Nope. Harvey doesn't want to play with us, he wants to play at the Kangaroos with Brent. If he doesn't get there in a trade he'll nominate for the pre-season draft. There's nothing we can do about that.
