View Full Version : The Worst TV series of all time...

...in fact it makes the "Bob Morrison Show" look like "Fawlty Towers"

I'm talking about the legendary "My Mother The Car" starring Jerry Van Dyke (Dick's brother) that ran for a couple of seasons in the mid 1960s. Yep, you guessed it, a bloke finds that the car he owns is his re-inCARnated dead mother.

Yes...that is the premise for the show. She talks to him and everything. A little bit of "Knightrider" and a lot of "The Love-testing Grandpa" episode of the Simpsons.

Anyway, it has been popping up late on Fox Classics, so those with Cable TV, keep an eye out for it, approx 11.00 each weeknight.

Sit back and feel your jaw drop to the floor. You have never seen anything like it.

Here is a taste...the theme tune. A jaunty little number that explains it all.

"Everybody knows in a second life, we all come back sooner or later.
As anything from a pussycat to a man eating alligator.
Well you all may think my story, is more fiction than it's fact.
But believe it or not my mother dear decided she'd come back.
As a car...
She's my very own guiding star.
A 1928 Porter.
That's my mother dear.
'Cause she helps me through everything I do
And I'm so glad she's near.
My Mother the Car.
My Mother the car."

Knowing me, I'd probably like it. :o

Surely it's not as bad as "Let the Blood Run Free"?

Although, "My Mother the Car" is a very different concept. I suppose it wins on originality - they had to have some specifically original idiots thinking that one up.

Dawson's Creek is the worst show still going on at the moment for me. It is complete and utter typical American trash.
As for aussie shows, it's got be Home and Away.

Nearly all reality shows and lifestyle shows

I would watch a badly made series such as Pacific Drive before almost everyone of these shows.

Survivor is watchable but that's about it.

Bark off is terrible. It is a cross between Survivor and The Mole. Except it involves dogs. It is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever seen.

Where to begin?

The Weber Show - Had one of the guys from Wings in it and was appaling but I sat there and watched every episode expecting something good to happen. It never did.

Hanging with Mr Cooper - The first series was great, was one of my favourite shows, then the little kid came into the show and it become a family show, it was that little **** from The Cosby Show and ruined that too.

Veronicas Closet - The name really says it all.

As for Australian TV Bingles was a shocker and as far as all time and worst show, Comedy Inc. is a disgrace.

Some of my favourites that didn't go too well in Australia
- Ed
- That 70's Show
- King of the Hill
- The Drew Carey Show (did ok for a while but they ended up putting it at 7 every night in the summer)

Henderson Kids II
Bingles
Shafted
Blankety Blanks with Shane Bourne
Hey Dad
The Bob Morrison Show

I'm no expert on dates or whatever but this lot smacks of the 80's and early 90's shockers. In any case, you still know what I mean. The time of the banal, brainless, shoulderpad, hedonistic, arrogant, expense account execs and so on. They are so bad they are good.

You think that's bad - what about "Touched by an Angel" and "Highway to Heaven"!!!

I hope they all die in the end.

They will - everybody does!! ;)

My preferred choice for them is to die and end up in the Rowan Atkinson hell sketch - "Christians, ah yes, I'm afraid the Jews were right." :D

I liked "Highway to Heaven". The propaganda wasn't that strong. They were more human interest stories which had a spiritual dimension.

"Touched by an Angel" is pure unadulterated crap.

Passions is by far the worst that I have seen.

I heard a woman in the supermarket say "... I have to get get home to watch passions". Needless to say, I looked at her in disgust!

Vindor! I'm shocked! Haven't you realised it's there for the laugh factor, rather than the drama factor? Although I am quite fond of catching up when I can (throwback from stress-induced insanity during my HSC), it's more for a laugh and to see how many "harmony days" have passed over the 2 months or so that I won't see an ep - usually it's still in almost exactly the same spot it was the last time i saw it. And the worst thing is that they call it the writer's best work yet.... god help us if they ever unleash his worst!

I agree, I really liked it. A few times it did get a bit heavy into the Christianity for my liking, but overall it was pretty good.
