Yes, it's ****ty I know... but credit to Miller, he does appear to be weeding these overinflated contracts out. With him at the helm, I don't think we will be paying over the odds for what a player is worth.

Only 200k for one year which i dont think Richmond will mind doing considering they wanted to get rid of him next year...pick 20 is decent....dont forget that things work in Richmonds favour.....no more paying for D Bourke this year, and Essendon r still picking up the tab for Bumfield.....now that Richmond have got pick 20, they can trade the first 2 draft picks for Brown and still have a second round draft pick....id say that Richmond did pretty well to convince Melb. to give them pick 20

If we wanted pick 20 we were always going to have to pay a fair slice of his contract for next year. I'd rather pay some of his contract next year than not pay any and only get pick 52.

Maybe you rate more highly then others TG.

Although he is a key position player his form barring 2001 can only be considered as sevicable. Pick 20 is okay considering .......however the 200k we have to pay is of our making considering we were prepared to pay so much to keep him only few seasons ago.

Best of luck ben. I hope you have some success at Melbourne .

Will be interesting to see if we now end up with Shane Morrison from the Lions. We don't have many draft picks to trade can't see 20 being used for him, 3rd round for Roach and then it might be doubtful the Lions excepting a 4th round for him. I don't think the Lions will really trade for too many players with their salary cap situation.

if we can trade Ray Hall to Sydney or Geelong for a second/third round pick, we should be able to on trade the draft pick to Brisbane for Morrison.

That is the only was I can see us getting him

Paying $200,000 is not bad considering if we had of kept him we would of had to pay him $400,000, so we have saved ourselves $200,000 and recieved pick 20 to boot. Good work Miller.

****.

Thanks a million Richmond. Very generous to pay $200,000 of his salary. :p

Seriously though, I'm happy with this trade. Pick 20 could end up a dud, and we get a KPP who can give us 5 years service at either end of the ground.

He'll be good Demon37 if he can get 2001 form back - had a sensational year up back after spending most of his career in Richo's shadow up forward. The knee reco set him back, but before that he was doing ok. He's no superstar, but he should be of some value.

Good luck Ben at the Demons.

Good luck ben from me as well.
I still believe if we played him like the lions play lynch he would have kicked alot of goals.
Overall a good deal for us and them as they gain a great mark and hopefully we get a good kid.
All this talk about ditching hall?? Why?? When he plays he looks o.k, no world beater but tough and gives 100% which is limited at Punt Rd.
Come-on Miller, keep going

Ben's not the worlds worst player. For #20 I think we got the better of the deal though. He should be good down at Melbourne esp with Green and Neitz up forward he will be very versitle.

Dont worry Melbourne supporters, he will deliver.

GL Ben at Melbourne!

Holland will do wonders if he has a good preseason, the main thing that is holding this man back is his injuries. I reckon his got a lot of potential and his best is yet to come. I honestly thought we would have been asking for more, but then injuries are a problem and probably was a big factor on the deal. Best of luck at Melbourne Ben Holland
