BOMBERS TO GET THE BEST OUT OF MURPHY
Friday, 17 October 2003

Essendon Football Club will get the best of Justin Murphy – that was the pledge the 27-year-old made to coach Kevin Sheedy this morning. Essendon has completed its second deal of trade week with Cory McGrath traded to the Blues in exchange for Murphy. “I know I have plenty of football left in me and coming to a great club and a good side will really bring the best out in me,” Murphy said after the trade was completed.

Don't know how i feel about this one. Left me with a bit of a sick feeling in the stomach really. Its bad enough to pick up one of the Carlton scumbags, but to then find out i'm going to have to cheer for Murphy, a player who is indelibly etched into my memory as the prick who held the ball aloft at the end of what was a heart breaking day in 1999, it hurts. Sheeds, i love ya mate, but what the hell were you thinking. :(

Willing to give him a chance...but ffs, Murphy - i've hated him for so long. He does have ability.

He has some ability but is softer than butter. Am stunned you picked him up. Very odd trade by Essendon's usual recycling standards.

We've given up a player who wasn't getting a game, and wasn't going to, for someone who might be able to add something.

I don't see how we can lose on this one.

Cory will do well at Carlton too, which will be nice to see.
