No mention of the Development squad's games.

Stemline, i have read elsewhere that the reserves will be rebranded along the lines of the AFL Victoria Development League . I was of the understanding that the fixture release would be around mid Jan, so it can only be days away you would think. I do not know why it has all been delayed or if any new ideas will be introduced to polish up young hopefuls but i am interested in the concept and we will see if funding will follow to develope young second level footballers.
They may even tweak the competition as they go, during the next few years.

Very interesting. In cases of aligned clubs it kind of makes sense but from the viewpoint of clubs like Port Melbourne it sounds a little weird. As a club they are being squeezed into a comp that is a development league for another league when they are just wanting to win flags. Or do I totally misread this?

I hope the format copies OK, if not sorry. The DT have byes in rounds 2, 5, 8 and 15, whereas the seniors have byes in rounds 2, 10, 13 and 21 thus on six weekends only one side plays. Also in rounds 17 and 22 the DT and seniors play on different days.

What is it about computers scrambling a copy and paste:confused:. I don't have a link however the fixture should be clearer if you ignore Saturday 31st March which has been added before round 1. Rounds 1 to 16 and 18 to 21 are all fine with the DT followed by the Seniors example 11:00am/2:00pm or BYE/2:00pm. You will note the Senior and DT both have BYES in round 2 and then three more Byes each on six different rounds.
R17 should read Saturday 22nd July Collingwood vs. BHH Victoria Park 10:30am and Sunday 23rd July Sandringham vs. BHH Trevor Barker Beach Oval 11:00am.
R22 should read Friday 24th August Bendigo vs. BHH Queen Elizabeth Oval 7:00pm and Saturday 25th August Casey vs. BHH Casey Fields 11:30am.

I hope this clears up the draws for 2012.

AFL Victoria Development League

In season 2012, the Reserves competition of the Peter Jackson VFL is to become the ‘AFL Victoria Development League’.
The changes to the Reserves competition name will be combined with the introduction of a new AFL Victoria VFL Academy. The Academy will aim to better prepare the talent pool from the Peter Jackson VFL competition for AFL Clubs to consider, by providing additional development opportunities for up to 25 selected VFL players.
The changes are part of AFL Victoria plans to enhance thetalent development pathway for TAC Cup graduates and more mature age players striving to be recognised by AFL Club recruiters.

The new AFL Victoria Development League will kick off on Saturday March 24 with 10 clubs (Box Hill Hawks, Casey Scorpions, Coburg Tigers, Frankston, North Ballarat, Northern Blues, Port Melbourne, Sandringham, Werribee Tigers and Williamstown) fielding teams in the competition. Efforts have been made to fixture the majority of Development League games prior to VFL Senior matches
