What the hell are the Doggies doing?

they didnt need to trade anything for Rawlings, who they could get in the Pre Season draft for free

but they gave up pick 6, when they didnt have to

WHY??????????

so Hawthorn would not trade him to Geelong which was a done deal. Spoke to someone at the AFL and both Geelong and Rawlings are fuming about this back door deal, i hope he puts a 1 Million a seaon price on his head, wont seem so clever then will they.

3 reasons l can see why, one is they were ethical in their dealings unlike Hawthorn, 2 its the bird in the hand theory, Calrton may have got into Jade's ear and put a stupid price on his head and 3, they can now try and get Stevens across in the PSD.

Makes sense to me and all power to them if they can pull it off.

l hope North keeps today in the memory banks.

The AFL should be fuming about that block thrown by the Dogs. They deserve to lose their priority pick if they can afford to throw their #6 pick away on a no-name. If this is not tampering, then it's certainly against the spirit of the whole thing. Then again, the whole week pretty much sucked the big one, didn't it?

Don't quite get your last 2 reasons:

1. The Dogs actually have nothing in the hand except a 90 kilos of veal

2. What's Stevens got to do with any of this?

Rawlings should blame no one but himself. Like Stevens, they tried to be too cunning.
North and Collingwood should learn from today as well, all 4 parties stuffed up!!

What is North supposed to learn? They were only willing to give up what was fair for Rawlings, Hawthorn asked too much so North didn't get silly.

Sounds like good business from North to me.

Still enjoying your beer Shinners? Roos will be unhappy.

No sympathy for Jade - enjoy your "security" buddy.

What a pity we stuffed it up by on-trading pick 6.

But I agree - the AFL will go nuts over this.

If the lottery system was introduced for the PSD then the Dogs wouldn't have been able to do this. But the AFL Players Association got it removed in their latest CBA!

I guess that's one all for clubs/players using the PSD threat to their advantage (McPharlin/Farmer was the other case and why the clubs wanted the lottery to come in)

Gee your vindictive Goalden Hawk. Remember it was your mis management that forced him out. Surely you have a little bit of sympathy for him. You got pick 6 + Alvey in effect and he got nothing. The Geelong offer in the end was better but you went out of your was to screw him.

PS the trade of Jacobs for Pick 6 + Alvey would have to go down as one of the worse paper trades of all time. You must not have been thinking clearly and rationally this afternoon ;) . Thanks to you guys we also have to put up with another year of Essendon fans gloating about how they are the masters of trade week and how that stupid old man is God's gift to football and mind games.

From all other 14 clubs THANK YOU

Don't forget when Essendon in 94 said to Freo you can have 3 average players so long as you take one of them as a priority pick - that allowed Essendon to select the best 16 y.o. ahead of Hawthorn, which was Matthew Lloyd

Gone from the beer to the champagne buddy.

I'm very happy that the Roos didn't go stupid by offering Hawthorn too much for Rawlings. It's a shame for Jade Rawlings, but he really should have re-signed with the Hawks.

My only disappointment is that we didn't pick up Guerra. I would have been happy to trade our 2nd round pick for him.

We learned out lesson from the Colbert trade. Don't let your desperation to land a player get in the way of working out just how much he's really worth.

Spot on Shinners.

We have plenty of talent at the club to make a charge next year, Rawlings would have just made it that little bit easier.

But I gues we aren't known for taking the easy route.

very simple deal.

WB traded pick 6 for Jade Rawlings. end of story.
the substance of the deal out weighs the form.
