It has to be Goren...no questions asked. He is the man. I want to be Goren when I grow up.

SVU has major concerns -
Ice just doesn't cut it as a cop (smile homes, you're not in South Central no more G...word)
BD Wong doesn't cut it as a shrink - quotations from VCE Psych text books are just **** funny
The female component of the show (the cop and the lawyer) are too hot lookin' to be credible.

The original -
Everyone's old.

The original is still the best, but Criminal Intent isn't far behind.Goren's is one of the best characters on TV.

SVU's fairly good.

criminal Intent definately.
I cant believe Vincent D'Onofrio was the guy in Full metal Jacket. He used to live in Perth for some time.

Goran gives me the shytes. He's too clever by far. In fact, he reminds me of Fox Mulder in the last few years of the X FIles, when he could solve everything after about 5 seconds.

Lenny Briscoe is good in L&O.I like John Munch in L&O:SVU.He was good in Homicide:Life On The Streets.

Yep - this is my view too. These are two of my favourite shows - easily top 10. I don't particularly like SVU. BTW - did anyone know that the female lead in SVU is Jane Russell's daughter?

Slow speech...jerky movement...he often reminds me of his bug character in "Men In Black". He's still my favourite character is the series though.

I like all of the Law & Orders. Bobby Goren and Jack McCoy are my favourites but Goren's partner Eames looks alright when she takes off her jacket and gets around in those singlet tops.

There's a funny bit in the Simpsons where the new tv show they're watching is Law & Order: Elevator Inspectors Unit:D

BTW Mariska Hargitay is actually Jayne Mansfield's daughter, not Jayne Russell's.

Should see her in Stir of Echoes then.

Good pick up - that's who I meant.

Don't laugh,I think there is suppose to be a 4th spin off from the L&O series next year.I'm not sure what angle it will take.

I didn't notice anyone saying he was, but anyway he was the second replacement.

He replaced Paul Sorvino who was Det. Phil Cerreta (2nd and 3rd season), who in turn replaced George Dzundza who was Det. Sgt. Max Greevey, and was only in the first season.

The fourth spinoff is meant to be about juries and include Jerry Orbach (Lenny Briscoe) and possibly another regular from the original.

That's it.Thanks for the reminder.

It would probably only feature characters from the L&O series every so often. So it would be like when Briscoe and Green make an occasional crossover from L&O to Criminal Intent or SVU.

You would think they would do that with the actors, although Fox News says "sources say that Wolf will move at least two existing "Law & Order" stars over to the new show, and that one of them will likely be the company's longest running star, Jerry Orbach." Still, Hollywood gossip doesn't always mean much - like AFL trading rumours really!

BTW - I see there are some PC games based on L&O:

I'm currently playing the OnLine demo... :)

Definitely Criminal Intent, though I must admit that my attention is starting to wane. Getting a bit too easy to predict.

I wonder if they'll ever do an episode that links all 3 shows or a storyline that involves an episode of all 3.

L&O and Homicide:Life On The Streets did a couple of linking episodes. It was bloody frustrating,as the 2 shows are on different networks in Aus.

It was 3 or 4 years before we saw a part 2 of an episode of L&O,which part 2 was a Homicide ep.

Uh, he WAS the bug character in MIB :p. To the best of my memory anyway, he played the thing when it was in human form (the hillbilly farmer).

Criminal Intent.

Goren rocks! He is one of the coolest dude's on commercial tv today. He's a freak. I love him!

My vote goes to Law & Order: Solomon Islands.

The Government spent all day today talking it up, so it must be good!!

(If **** Wolf has not made it yet, he will soon)

Getting easy to predict? They normally tell you who did it in the opening scenes!

My fav is Criminal Intent - Goran has to be one of the all time great tv characters.

Like he said. Great minds think alike.

It was fun way back when "Mr Big" was the young detective and "Crossing Jordan" was the wise cracking asst. DA.

I started out as a huge L&O fan but lately they have being a little rigid(bring back Adam Schieff,Dianne Weiss is as wooden as a forrest).I really like Goran but his female offsider is really just 'Fluff' and it makes the show too one dimensional at times.
I have always enjoyed SVU although sometimes the topics/storylines are too gruesome for a man with a young family like me.

My all time favourite is Homicide;LOTS.THis was a great show and in many ways was ahead of it's time with production techniques and storyline/character movement. My favourities where Pembleton and Munch!!!!

They're past her now. The DA is now Fred Thompson, a great character actor, who is actually a lawyer in real life and was also a senator. He started acting after being cast as himself in a move 25 years ago. His DA, Arthur Branch, is a bit of a right-wing, fire and brimstone Southern prosecutor.

I never really warmed to that show. The editing was really weird - jumped very suddenly from camera angle to camera angle. I also found the characters hard to like and emphathise with.

I loved Homicide, the same as The District, they were excellent,
I found them totally different & more intriguing than other cop shows, but obviously I was in the minority because they are gone, but they were both better than the Shield IMHO.
