View Full Version : The extent of our trading week deception

Interestingly enough, in an interview this morning, Sheedy said that a trade had been set up which sent Rawlings to the Roos, Jacobs/Bolton to the Hawks, picks to Freo, and Koops to the Bombers. He said it fell through because the Bombers weren't happy with Koops' asking price, but look who got Koops....

I'm not saying that we only got Koops as a means to get Rawlings (he'll add something to the list next year) but my guess is that we knew about the trade and smothered it by offering both the Bombers and Freo more than they were getting from North. I seriously doubt this was a coincidence.

So the bombers were interested in Koops, but we got him instead?

good.

Why? I'm not criticising the club. In fact I'm proud that we finally hit back and stopped being the ones getting bent over at trade time. I just think it's interesting to see how much strategy goes into trade week and I suspect there is a lot more happening behind the scenes than we ever find out and by the looks of things this deal was a lot more complicated than it looks.

So in response to your request, no I won't shut up.

I don't disagree with your sentiments but when there's talk about an AFL investigation, threads with a heading like this one are counter-productive. Anyway there are plenty of threads on trade week already. Couldn't you just have added to one of those?

Ease up Curls, I think it's a rather clever observation.

We are sweet with the AFL investigation, Demeteriou said everything seemed to be done by the rules, nothing much they can do really.

I doubt anything I post on this board is likely to be the difference between us getting penalised or not. More to the point, there is nothing wrong with trumping another team with a better trade, which is all we have done with the koops trade. And I would have posted on one of the other threads, but this really has little to do with the Rawlings trade itself.

Ha, ha.

Essendon only got pick 6 and Alvey for Jacobs - us and the Hawks sure bent them over, huh.
