How come people are posting stuff like
"cant force a player to go somewhere he doesn't want to."
"I feel sorry for so and so"
Well I say stiff t*ties to em all
That's the system.
You enter a draft as a youngster willing to go anywhere. What gives you the right to after being supportered by a club for 5 years to leave and demand where you are going?
If a players wants to leave, fair enough, yet they must be prepared to go anywhere.
I don't feel sorry for Rawlings or Stevens or any of then.
I think the Port Adelaide stance was good for the game.
Come on people whats all the hang ups about our Veale deal. It was within the rules so its fine.

You're right to some extent.
Players should leave their club for the right reasons.
I did have a problem when a greedy, self-obsessed little germ like Nathan Brown, who because of his incredibly inflated view of himself, decides to leave after we invest in him and mould him into a class player for 7 years to chase big bucks at a club that is in no better position on the field than we are right now.
Then after deserting us he demands to be traded to Richmond, then he has the gall to act like he's got no idea why Dogs players and fans are disappointed in him, after treating the club and its supporters with outright contempt throughout the years in regards to his contract and his supposed desire to re-sign with us.
In the case of Brown, he knew what he was doing. I almost wish he did nominate for the preseason draft and was drafted somewhere else just to shove it up him. Almost ;)
I want Rawlings to come to us, he's a good player and we need a quality KPP, but if he doesnt want to come, why should we bother? I only want players who are 100% committed to us, and if theyre not, I'm more than happy to see them go elsewhere. I dont see why he should be so upset, he knew the risks of leaving when he left the Hawks surely. I dont think he wouldve thought going to North was a dead cert.
Players should accept the risks involved in leaving their clubs, but that doesnt mean they shouldnt have a say of course. But the attitudes of Brown (demanding to be traded to Richmond) and Rawlings (sulking about coming to play for us) are pretty disappointing.
Footballers need to see that the world and their club does not revolve around them all the time.

Why would you want someone that had no desire to play for you?

Happens all the time in the National Draft. Remember Chalmers, McKay, Jarman, Pyman, even Luke Power etc....
The bulldogs are being aggressive and good on them.
