Is sack Liam Pickering!
I cant beleive a player manager can come out today in the Age and say they are contemplating to nominate for the National Draft to attempt to get to North.
Great tactic. You CAN'T nominate a price on your head in the National Draft for starters, and you are obliged to a 2 year deal on minimum wages once you are picked up.
Say he nominates and agrees with North to be paid more than the minimum once he gets drafted, gets picked up at pick 1 by the doggies instead and has to play for $70k per year! Great move by the player manager! Especially when thev'e quit the Hawks lokking for security!
Get over it Liam. Everyone knows that when you walk out on a club looking for a better deal, you run the risk of ending up in the preseason draft. You gambled and lost.
Now negotiate a deal with the Doggies, get Jade a 3 year deal worth close to $1 mill per year and be done with it.

It's just press jibberish.
Rawlings is a sensible fellow and Pickering is actually a half decent manager, unlike some of his peers in the industry.
I would be surprised if they made too much fuss. Jade is a professional footballer. He and Pickering knew once they decided to leave the Hawks there was a chance they might not end up where they wanted to go.
Unless the Dogs are foolish or disprespectful in their dealings they should be able to stitch this up. The sooner the better for all parties concerned so that all can get on with their footy preps for next year.
On the radio today it has been reported that Hawthorn will try and contract Jade Rawlings, now wouldn't that really screw us over! Surely he wouldn't sign with them, would he? Could this disaster actually happen?

Surely its in Rawling's best interests to work out where he is going ASAP. I hope its soon because i am sick of all the innuendo. First with Brown and now Rawlings...geez its all too much for me! :(

Unless the AFL have changed their rules, you can put a price on your head. Brad Ottens did when he was recruited by Richmond (I believe it was 200k/yr).
Nowhere in that article did Pickering mention that the National Draft was a ploy to get to North, and I'd say Melbourne or Geelong at the least would snap him up anyway. Pickering is just upping the ante so Jade gets more $$$.

A re-phrase is in order here I reckon...

In the National draft you cant nominate a price, you can in the PSD. No way Ottens put that price on his head.
Pickers will do the right thing by his client, and that means nominate his fee (400K) and the contract length (3-4 years). If brotherly love is a key, then we should do whatever we can to get Brady overe to the kennel in 2005. We need some negating midfielders. The Age article was all smoke & mirrors, bit of *** for tat b/w Pickers and John Hook trying to justify their respective positions. National draft is not in anyone's best interests, especially not Jade's.

Stuff Brady. Rawlings will get more money than he originally expected, making him one of the top 6 or 7 highest paid players at our club, and he better play well to earn it.
If Brady was crap, I'd say stuff him as well, but I think he's quite a decent stopper.

I don't know if the rules have been changed recently, but in previous seasons you certainly could put a price on your head for the national draft.
Off the top of my head, A. Rocca, S. Grant and D. Gaspar all did it to try to stop Sydney drafting them (Sydney drafted them anyway and they all subsequently left when their first contract was up).
